I am looking to paint a wall quote on my classroom wall.
I want it to be something the second graders will understand.
    I am considering...
"Oh the places you will go."
"Be the kind of friend you want to have."

    Any other ideas?
I am thinking I may prefer something on character building but I am open to anything.

I am alos considering the Pledge of Alligence painted on another wall.

From "That's Life", as sung by Frank Sinatra:

"I've been up and down and over and out, but I know one thing:
Each time I find myself flat on my face
I pick myself up and get back in the race.
    That's life!"

I think I may have read that on AtoZ once. It stuck with me.

Maybe something like...kindness warms both the giver and the receiver.

Acts of kindness, no matter how small, is never wasted.

A smile is kindness in any language.

All of these are from Dr. Seuss:

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...”

“Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.”

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.”

    “You're off to Great Places!
    Today is your day!
    Your mountain is waiting,
    So... get on your way!”

“Why fit in when you were born to stand out?”

“Only you can control your future.”

“Think and wonder, wonder and think.”

This summer I decided to do the same thing and am using a loose quote from Conan O'Brien's farewell speech from the Tonight Show:

"Work hard, be kind, and amazing things will happen."

Look up, "Walt Disney Quotes" I think a lot are perfect for the classroom.

My personal favorite is, "Be the Change you want to see in the world."

    from Walt Disney:

If you can dream it, you can do it.

The more you like yourself, the less you are like anyone else, which makes you unique.

The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.

There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate's loot on Treasure Island.

“Anyone can become angry – that is easy, but to be angry with the right person at the right time and for the right purpose and in the right way – that is not within everyone’s power and that is not easy.”
