I was at Target tonight--- they still have the 10 cent notebooks and they were already empty of the contents of some bins--- I brought my tax exempt letter and I had a 10% off cupon so that was nice--- I also found a book about "using the potty" on clearance-- and some magenet photo boards that i am going to try to use for some pecs schedules for some of my kids---
Wal-Mart has these prices now. They even matched the 7 cent folders from the Target ad. The lady who was stocking said the prices usually go down more the week before school starts. These are the prices I jotted down for what my kids will need. Glue was 15-20 cents, depending on brand. Wooden rulers 20 cents. Roseart washable markers 1.97 Fiskar scissors (the name brand) 1.88. 2 pack pink erasers 97 cents. I didn't price the pencils since I have plenty. Sharpies 2 pack 97 cents. Construction paper 1.50. Watercolor paint set 97 cents. Index cards 46 cents. Loose leaf paper 50 cents pack. Glue sticks 2 pack 20 cents. I bought the real cheap stuff for now, since I don't have a supply list from the school yet. Walgreens also has some stuff on sale. You can look at their ad on their website. The ones I noted were Kleenex tissue 89 cents (this is part of our school supply list every year) pencil sharpeners 3 for 1.00 index cards 3 for 1.00 Dollar General construction paper 1.00 10 washable markers (off brand) 1.50 fiskar scissors (off brand) 1.50
if you have a staples near you, notebook paper is just .15 this week. They also have 10 packs of Crayola markers for .68.
You know, whenever I go to my nearest Walmart, I NEVER find any of these deals you all are talking about. It must just be each area and only certain participating stores or something because our Walmart seems to be money hungry. They never have these great deals!
I am hoping things get cheaper at Wal-Mart before school starts because it seems more expensive than last year. The only thing I got were Rose-Art Crayons for 10 cents a pack and folders for 10 cents each. The cheapest scissors they had were $1/pair! Last year I got mine for 40 something cents. The plastic folders were still 88 cents and I got mine for 30 something cents last year. There were a lot of parents and teachers still scooping them up, though.
Is 15 cents for notebook filler paper the best deal I should expect? Also, what size scissors do middle schoolers use? Are they the mini student ones with the pointed tip that my fourth graders also used or are there more "mature" ones?
$.15 is pretty good for 150 sheets of notebook paper. Our dollar store has great scissors for $1.00 - even a lot of my fourth graders can't use the scissors they market for kids because their hands are too large. By 4th and middle school I would definitely want pointed scissors.
Thanks to all of you that have mentioned the table pocket folders. I went to Wal-Mart today and bought one. This will be perfect for working with my children. I share a classroom and it is difficult to put things on the wall because of lack of space. We both can't put up different things and most of the time we are not working on the same thing.
Is the Staples sale this week unadvertised? I looked through their circular and didn't see the markers or paper or anything that was really that hot of a deal.... did they just have stuff in the store for cheap?
It was in our sales circular. I think you can go to their website and see what's in the circular for this week and next week. Someone else posted that they had a different sale than we did. Our schools start in August, so the sales may be earlier here.
I'm finding the same thing JenPooh! Same with the Target deals! We don't have a tax free day either!! What's the deal with Wisconsin??
Target has Teacher Appreciation Day coming up soon. They give a canvas tote bag with school supplies and coupons. To find out when it is in your area you can go to this link: http://www.staples.com/sbd/cre/mark..._-srw_active-_-teacher_appreciation_day&cm_lm Office Depot also has one but I can't find the link.
Spent $140 at Target yesterday. Packs of 10 notebooks for $1, 10 pocket folders for .70, lots of good deals. Got all my son's supplies plus tons of stuff for school. My husband was, needless to say, thrilled!
we don't have tax free day but office supply and staples offers a discount day for teachers nation wide soon.
Is .68 cents for a 10 pack of Crayola markers or a 12 pack of Crayola colored pencils a good deal? Should I stock up now or wait to see if prices drop?
YES!!! they usually sell for around $3.50, I think .68 is probably their lowest price. The best part is that as long as the caps stay on they won't dry out so if you don't need them right away they will last until you do need them. I stocked up about 2 or 3 summers ago and I still have new ones that haven't been used (I'll never have to buy markers again
just went to target and they had 24 pack of crayola crayons for .20 cents! Probably as low as their crayons get . . .
I looked at the sale circular for Staples for next week. Here are the highlights: Roseart - 24 crayons $.08 Roseart - 12 colored pencils $.39 Roseart - 10 markers $.49 Pocket folders (with or w/o brads) $.05 Spiral notebooks 6 pack for $.54 (that's .09 each!)
Ok, today I happend to find a couple great deals at Walmart. I found stand up pocket charts with number and alphabet cards in them for $6 a piece. They will be great for a learning center! For example: the number one comes with the numerals, number words, and quantity cards they have to match up. I also found some bingo games for less than $2.
Here's the current Target sale: Crayola 8 pk of Markers $1 SALE 5 for $1 Pick any five for a buck. • Wood or plastic ruler. • 8-ct. wood pencils. • 12-ct. RoseArt colored pencils. • Pack of 2 Elmer’s school glue sticks. • 4-oz. Elmer’s school glue. 10-ct papermate pens .40 2-pk target scissors for kids .50 plastic pencil box or pouch 3/$1 24-ct crayola crayons .20 24-ct sharpie permanent markers $10 (that's the cheapest I have seen for that many)
I have a friend that worked at a Walmart while attending college. The manager there gave her a great discount on school supplies. I have found that lots of times all you have to do is ask and they at least try to cut you a bit of a deal. Last week, I was in WalMart and was purchasing supplies for my own kids and the .10 pocket folders rang up for .01!!! Of course, I went back and bought 200 more for that price!! Plus I made the store match that price for the folder I had put on lay-away for my classroom a few days earlier--made nearly a $9.00 difference! I LOVE A GOOD DEAL!
I worked at Walmart for 6 years between high school and college and we always got a 10% discount, except for clearance items. Came it really handy sometimes, especially when our tv took a dump.
I finally got my table top pocket charts today! Yea!!! I was so excited after hearing everyone else talking about them.
Meijer had 12pk crayola colored pencils for 20 cents a couple of weeks ago, I would hold out. You may find this same deal coming soon in another store. I also got 1 cent sharpeners, folders, and 12pck pencils at staples. Keep looking, also, go to these stores every week. They do have great unadvertised sales on these items as well. The colored pencils at meijer weren't advertised, not were they labled. I just happened to scan a pack to check the price and thats what they came up. i'll let you all know of the next secret deal I find.
I have so much stuff and I love a good deal. I am struggling with why I would need 200 folders, however. What do you do with all of them? Do you go through that many in a year? Just curious...
Yes, we do have it in TX, but I though it was only on clothing. I could be wrong. I believe it's the weekend of Aug. 4-6.
I have 3 kids of my own and have room to store them for future use for home and for my classroom. At .01 each--knowing that is the best deal I'll ever find--$2.00 worth of folders is GREAT!
Okay...I went to walmart and the only pocket charts they had were 32" x 52" and they were $10. Is this what everyone was talking about? These are too big for desks. Please tell me what size the ones were that everyone is talking about. thanks.
