Oh good...I hope the same happens for us as well. Most K and 1st grade teachers have 26 students, some even 27. It's been a tough, tough first week.

That is great news! Our building just added a new classroom for third grade, they were at 29 each. My first grade team is waiting for our relief, we have an average of 28 kids each. Although, there isn't room in the building right now.
Good luck picking kids. Our principal does the picking. For the most part that makes everything easier.

Good for the kids (in the long run) and great for a teacher to be hired. See, there is still hope!

They're going to put us up to 35 until they hire any new teachers. Our fourth grade classes have 33. I have 27 and my team member has 28. I wish they would do what's best for the kids.

It's so chaotic, and the kids feel it too I'm sure...

How in the world do they expect one teacher to teach 27 kids how to read?

35???!!!??? What is your legal contractual limit??? If it's 35 y'all need to change that!!!! I can't imagine putting 35 desks in a room. I can't imagine the management nightmare! I can't imagine TEACHING 35 children....you'll be so busy managing them!

Our grades 1-3 classes are capped at 20, no cap above that. Right now, all of our 4-8 classes are between 27 and 30. With a few more enrollments, if a class goes to 32 or above, our principal will request more staffing, although there is ceratinly no guarantee of that happening. We are all very used to classes this size--under 25 is almost unheard of.

I don't know if I could fit 35 desks in my room. I have 28 desks in there right now, and I will probably get more students throughout the year since it's a military base. The district just doesn't want to hire anyone else.

I feel your pain. I teach Kindergarten and we had 31 and 32 students per class and we finally got a new teacher after 18 days of school. We could barely move in our rooms and teaching was impossible. We did what we could, but mostly we were just trying to survive.
