I thought I would prepare a "ballot" and have my first graders vote on Tuesday. I can't decide what I want them to vote for though. I would like it to be something meaningful, rather than just favorite colors or something like that. I thought maybe it could be about an activity we could do afterwards, so that they will look forward to finding out the results of the election. Any ideas?

How about picking what kind of snack to make? That would be something fun and meaningful for first graders.

Favorite book? The class across the hall did that, it was really cute.

Favorite lunches? Least favorite? Pass that along to the cafeteria.

Favorite subject? Favorite song? Favorite movie?

What about who should be president, a boy or a girl?

What game should you play during __ time?

Thanks! I was thinking about it today and I might have them vote on what they want to do and give the "free time" to do it. I could do extra time at stations or something like that.

One election day we voted on a name for our class fish. It came down to Johnny Appleseed and Little Bowwow. I am sad to report that Little Bowwow won. I have never been more tempted to commit voter fraud in my life.

Monday is Read Across America Day. We are also celebrating Dr. Seuss' Birthday. What about reading 3 different Dr. Seuss books, and having the children vote on their favorite?
