Do any of you in primary grades have any cool new ideas of what you can do with Vista Print? Last year I was in 3rd grade, and I got a lot of great ideas to use at that level, but not much of that can be used in K. I'm excited to order from them again, but I'm looking for new ideas/examples!!!
Yes, I use Vista Print constantly, I love it! I have a whole page on my website dedicated to the different ways I use Vista creations in the classroom. I created a lot of new things this past year so I will have to add those to the page this summer. Please share with us your Vista creations when you're done, Vista is a HOT summer topic here at A2Z
I just received my postcards. I will be sending them to my students inviting them to our Meet the Teacher night. I really want ideas so i can order more things.
I like the postcard idea to invite them to the open house!! Could you share what yours look like? I love to get new ideas, also!!! Last year I created business cards with my name, phone number, and e-mail address on them. I will do that again. They were nice for parents to hang on their fridge for a quick reminder if they needed to get ahold of me.
I made the mini magnets to fill out and send home when the kids have done something extra good. They say, I got a high five today for __________. One of the designs for the free postcards is an awesome frog. Our state test is the LEAP so, of course, we go frog crazy. I made a postcard for the kids with just the picture of the frog and some encouraging phrases for them. I pass them out testing week as a morale booster. I also ordered one of the car magnets to hang on the magnet board in my room. I do teams and each six weeks we have a winning team (they color in stars when I catch them doing great teamwork - the one with the most stars wins). I used the patriotic theme for the magnet and it just says "All Star Team" with a line to stick the winning team's name. I did the cheap shipping and it all came in really quickly.
I have had several items printed. I use business cards as award cards (good citizen, helper, awesome work, etc.) The students love them. I have several self inking stamps with a star and says such as: Good work, keep trying, help needed, etc. I also had address labels printed with stars to use as stickers (Great work, Awesome, fantastic). I had postcard invitations for a classroom visit, specials schedules, thank you cards, small magnets-Look what I did at school, large magnets for the board with our school code of conduct, note pads, even tee shirts made up to identify myself and my para while on field trips.
I made: *Monkey thank you note cards *Monkey thank you post cards from the class that we give to others who do kind things for us *Business cards that say something like "swinging in to say, you had a great day! I like the way you_______________________" and they take it home to parents *Clean Desk Fairy post cards *Yellow blank monkey magnets that I put their names on for writer's Workshop. *Large car magnet that says SHHHHH Quiet Time *Large car magnet for 6 traits writing. *cute monkey address labels that say "Property of Mrs. Lemonhead" *Stamps in red ink that say "completed together in class" "awesome" and several others. *Medium sized magnets for the board
Oh I also made some of the giant post cards with that frog popping out of the water. I had them out on conference day so parents could write a note to their child and leave on their desk.
oh, these are great ideas! Thanks for sharing! It is endless what you can do. I'm excited to put a new order in!!
I'm so excited!! I just put in a big order with Vista Print! I can't wait for it to come now! I ordered some really cute business cards to use as reminders when the kids are low on milk money. They have a really cute owl design-must be new! I also ordered big postcards to hand out when the students have mastered their upper-case letters!-(got the idea from Vannapk site), I got a cute mouse pad, some cute thank you cards with monkeys for my son to use for his 2nd birthday, a cute pen that says to return to Mrs.____, and a really cute pad of sticky notes. All of this was only $10 for shipping!!!! Anyone else order yet?
Yeah!!!! Not yet but I will sometime in July when my wheels get spinning. Sounds awesome! The address labels are great too for making Property of Mom2Two stickers. I'll have to check out Vanna's site again.
I also use the address labels for book labels that say "From the Library of Mrs. _____" I put these on all of my classroom books, and my professional books. That way, when another teacher borrows- they always know where to return it!
I just finished making a rack card (something new?) with the story elements. I'll give it to the students to use as either bookmark or paste in their reading journal. I need some ideas for the large magnets --- what can I use those for?
I made one that I used to post my class rules on. It looks really good, and I just stuck it to the white board. I'd like to use more of those also....anyone else have ideas?
The large magnets I am referring to - come in packs of 10 so it would have to be for something like labels or generic misc. Last year, I used these to make sort of award certificates of accomplishment. Would like some other ideas. The car magnets I've also used for class rules and morning activities.
Sorry, you're right. I was thinking of the car door magnets. I guess I've never used the large magnets. I'd like to though!
I'm thinking of using them as a hall pass. I've used blank ones last year & had to either write in or make labels to indicate it was a pass. It would save me a step or two.
I made my first order the other day...a tee shirt, with my school's name, my dept., and the saying "Making a big difference in little lives" (This was my favorite). I also ordered magnets that say: I Made this at school for you today. I ordered a pen, and sticky notes with my name on them, and I also ordered a self inking stamp with my name and address to stamp in my books. I am so glad that I found out about Vista on this site, I think it was Vanna that told me about it a while ago, I plan on using them for a plethora of printing needs.
Okay, it's time for me to jump on the Vistaprint train! I've been reading about it for years. I know once you get started you get all sorts of emails from them with deals. How do you get started? Are there free things without coupon codes?
I honestly don't remember how I got started. I would just go to their site, and see if they have any free offers. Just sign up, and you will get e-mails ALL THE TIME. I'm sure I get a 2-3 per week. They are always sending free offers. Once in a while you will even get free shipping!
When you go the their site, there is a link on the left toolbar called "Free Products" I think. From there you can order just a few selected items, postcards, pens, sticky notes and a few other things. Once you place that first order, then you will get the emails for the really good stuff. Again, be careful not to click on any of the other things offered.
Upload a class picture on the first day of school order 2 sets, on different orders so they are both free. Then give it to them on the last day of school!
I'm thinking of ordering the banner and have it hang over my guided reading table with something on it about not interrupting....anyone have an idea? I have a monkey theme.
Marketing and Signage. You may need to use this link. http://www.vistaprint.com/custom-banners.aspx?GP=6/23/2009+8:37:44+PM
I like that.... no monkeying around. I really want to say "don't talk to me unless you are bleeding or the room is on fire" but that won't fly!
I just got a new coupon this morning. It has a free banner! It also has 25 free magnets! I want to put all my contact information on it, and hand them out at open house. Nice for parents to put on their fridge! Does anyone know for sure if the expiration dates are really true? I thought in the past I had used expired coupons, but I just want to make sure!
Great idea! I did something similar but the other way around. I took a pic the week before school was out & ordered it as a magnet. I ended up paying $$ because I needed 23 magnets & had to expedite to make sure I got it on time. The reason I ended up down to the wire was because it was challenging to get both classes to be present to take the pics. I still ended up missing one student but the pic turn out great! This year I'll like to do it like you suggested. I will be self contained this coming year so may be I'll do one at the end too.
Have any of you printed their postcards? It says their is a 50/50 chance the color side could be where you write in the addresses. Has this happened to anyone?
I have ordered several batches of postcards each year for the last 6 years and it has never happened to me. I just ordered 4 new batches of postcards and they were all fine.
