Hi! My grade (3) is in charge of next week's chapel and assembly on Veteran's Day. I am stumped for ideas. Should we sing? Should we dance? Should we write a poem? Any ideas would be helpful! THANK YOU!
Are you inviting any veterans? Can you have kids interview veterans they know and share the results? HOw about photos of the veterans of their family from when they served, and now? It might help the kids see grandpa as a young man and not as they now know him.
You could try singing the songs for each branch. "From the halls of Montazuma to the shores of Tripoli" is very inspiring. You could have everyone dress up in Red, White and Blue and talk about why those colors were chosen for the flag and incorporate the fact that soldiers fought for that flag and what it represents. Or sing the national anthem and "dissect" that.
