I can't believe it... School in my district was out May 29. Students return on Sept. 17. I will not be at the (madhouse) school at which I taught last year - it was taken over by the superintendent and the entire faculty (almost) was disbursed to different schools. Anyway.... This afternoon, I received a phone call on my cell from the parent of one of my students from last year (I can't believe she kept my number!). She was lamenting the fact that her next youngest child couldn't have ME as a teacher, and asking about alternative schools for her children, because she doesn't trust the "new" administration to take care of business well enough the first year. I nearly cried! I gave her what information I could about different schools (I don't actually know that much), and who she needed to contact with the school board. At the end of the call, she put her daughter on the phone, and we had a "telephone hug." It was so sweet! Apparently, I'm not such a horrible teacher after all!
