Alright... my fiancé has narrowed down our vacation destinations to 3 locations. I've never been to any of them and would like your opinion...

    San Antonio, Texas
    Chicago, Illinois
    Washington D.C.

I've only been to SA, but I enjoy my visit every time I go. There's always something new to do.

Of all those places, the one I would want to go to the most is definitely Chicago. I'd love to visit there. I have been to D.C. a few times though and that's always been fun!

I'd pick D.C. because I haven't been recently. I'd do Williamsburg with that trip too. However, I enjoyed Chicago last time we went!

Chicago! I like D.C., but I like the overall feeling of Chicago better.

Chicago! Tons to do and weather will likely be better.

When are you traveling? What are you looking to get out of the trip/what type of vacation are you hoping for?

I would find out what your SO wants to do in each of those cities. It might help you better decide rather than leaving it up to strangers who don't know you at all.

I personally hate most cities. Been to Chicago. Meh. Been to DC and loved the museums which are so diverse. Loved seeing the monuments. Wouldn't do it in the middle of summer again. Never been to SF.

I guess it comes down to what do you enjoy and does the city offer that.

I went to Chicago 2 years ago and had a great time! It's one of the few cities that left me wanting more - we did so much and yet there was still so much more we could have done. I'll definitely go back in the future.

    I vote for Chicago!

I'd want to go to Chicago only because I've never been, and I've visited most major cities. Washington DC was really fun though when I went in 8th grade. There was a lot of history there and it was fascinating to learn about all of the politics and things that happened there. I know nothing about San Antonio, Texas.

Just know that it's like 200 degrees in Texas.
Anything outside is going to suck, unless it involves water. Lol

Not taking temperatures into account, San Antonio is my favorite of the places listed. Beautiful city! I have been once and would love to go back.

Right now, our temps have been rather low for June.

That may not last, but it's nice for now.

Thanks all! We decided on Chicago... (in small part because Hamilton is playing there... and there are a few other theatre choices and I am OBSESSED with theatre.)

Now we're just trying to pick things to do that we'll enjoy. We're going mid-July so the temperature will be high. I'm guess lots of indoor stuff mid-day and outdoor things morning and evening.

I'm a little late, but my 1st choice would have been Chicago too! Then, D.C. was 2nd choice. Never been to any of the three.

    Have fun!

If you can't score tickets to Hamilton, the other BIC shows for July are mostly classics. Outside of BIC, I recommend Ragtime, which runs through the 16th. The reviews have been good and I know people in the cast. Blue Man Group is overrated IMO. The Chicago theatre scene is really strong, so most anything you'd pick will be decent.

Outside of theaters, if you'll be there by the 9th, Taste of Chicago will be going on. The museums in general are fabulous, as are Shedd and Adler. Navy Pier is also kind of overrated, or at least BYO snacks because their food is way overpriced. If it's your type of thing, there's also the Frank Lloyd Wright tour in Oak Park.

Hope you can still get Hamilton tickets. When I was there two weeks ago, Second City had a new show and it was great.

Washington is fun. There are lots of things to do like museums and there's a zoo, gardens, etc. If you have time I would definitely head down to Williamsburg also for the day. So much fun if you like history.

DC is a must in your life. Mt Vernon. Williamsburg is amazing. But living in Fla. the beach is fantastic. Flagler Beach is my new favorite but Cape San Blas or Casey Key are also fantastic. I think Stephen King lives on Casey Key now.

We went to Chicago 4 years ago to visit a friend and loved it. Definitely do the Art Institute. We also did a boat tour and LOVED it. Learned a lot about the architecture.
