I am teaching 5th grade science this year overseas. I am going back to the States in November for a wedding and have the chance to pick up some resources for school. What are your FAVORITE science resources? books, materials, etc?

Usborne's Science Encyclopedia - the big one that's internet-linked; for your own purposes you could also pair it with Usborne's big science dictionary. Both have been issued in revised editions relatively recently, so I don't have ISBNs; you should be able to order them through any of the big bookstores, or you might check the Internet to see if there's an Usborne dealer near where you'll be. (Most Usborne books are sold more or less the way Tupperware used to be, by independent dealers at home parties and the like.)

My favorite pay site is Science A to Z.

Science A to Z is awesome and I love a lot of Lakeshore's materials, esp. Science Quiz Game Show and their upper elementary science kits.

I love the AIMS activities, but they can get pricey.

There's a Lakeshore store near where I'll be so I'll definitely check that out. I'm also trying a 7-day trial of Science A to Z and checking out some of the free AIMS activities. Thanks!
