Well, they almost always only hire their own graduates as well. And, typically, it goes to someone who is related to someone. The police chief's daughter was the hire the year I interviewed. I laugh when I read their non-discrimination disclosure. However, for all their hiring snobbery, I love the town, the schools and the teachers within them.

MLPP is basically just a balanced literacy approach using the 5 components of reading (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension).

It's not like that all over Atlanta. Just in my particular county...maybe some other small counties like my hometown as well. Too bad I don't live in the town I grew up in since I'd fit the hiring profile then!

Official rejection from L. I only wished I would have listened to my gut instinct and canceled. I would have saved about $50 in gas and 8 1/2 hours of my life. Oh well.

Even though you've applied to a ton of jobs, it's impressive you're getting so many hits. It's only a matter of time now, hopefully.

There is a school Q! School Q is 2 hours from the family in an area I know VERY well! I spent a lot of time there in my childhood and I have a great aunt about 15 minutes from town and other about 45 minutes. When my parents were together, we'd go there a good 5-10 times each year since my dad's best friend had a cabin there. Pretty excited about this one! 4th grade.

Breaking news- my realtor told me to stay by my phone - we MAY be getting an offer.

He capitalized the "may" like I did. I'm excited!!!!!!!!!!!!! That will be a huge load off- I won't have to worry as much about interviews more than an hour away.

Heyyyy now. NC is not that bad. It's really a great place to live, I love it here. I'd only move somewhere with a more mild climate (Florida, Mississippi, etc.) I'd seriously keep my pay over moving somewhere where I'd have to deal with yucko snow. Blech! We've got beaches, mountains, the Outer Banks, and we're close to my fav. vacay destination: Busch Gardens Williamsburg :)

    Well....

    .

    .

    .

    .

They offered me a job on the spot! :woot:

They've been interviewing for days and I am their FIRST hire! It is SOOO local, which I am excited about. Everyone I've met so far is super nice. I am nervous about it being a start-up charter. I'm also a bit nervous to teach inner city, although I did do an internship in the inner-city and loved it.
I don't know the grade level yet. I also don't know a salary yet- I will continue to interview and apply for local jobs (within the county).
I am still going to my demo lesson tomorrow, but I am canceling my interview with Q on Thursday. It is far away. School P also wants me to come in on Thursday, which is the other reason for canceling.
I'm so excited to be local! The school I got my undergrad is maybe 3 miles down the road from this school. I will be filing to appeal the out-of-state tuition so I can begin my masters in January.
I am still hoping to hear from a local public school, however, this school is extended school year and starts back on August 5th. Professional Development starts July 22! My summer is over :(

I have to agree with this. While I issue you my sincere, heartfelt congratulations, it's been like a thriller movie visiting this thread! Who's gonna call next? Where's the next interview coming from? Don't open that closet - it's a supernatural school hiding in there!

But seriously. Congratulations!!! That is totally awesome.
