I check this thread all of the time... You have so many of us routing for you! I can't wait to soon read the good news!
N wants me back for a second interview on Friday. 3rd round would be demo lesson if I make it that far. The town is small, which I knew. I didn't realize it was so economically depressed. It was a bit sad. There are only 2 teachers per grade level. From what I've gathered online, the morale is high and there is a good sense of community.
Recap: A- eliminated B- eliminated C- awaiting official openings- in the hiring pool D- eliminated E- eliminated F- pending G- pending H- eliminated I- pending J- eliminated K- eliminated L- interview July 1 M- pending N- 2nd interview Friday O- interview this afternoon via phone
Your tally and analysis of your job search should be pinned on the boards as an example of how this process goes. Finding a job is one in itself!
I got a rejection from one of the principal's at M. She said she can't speak for the other positions I applied for. I'm guessing I'd know by now if it was positive
Aw, that's sad about M but good that you've got so many irons in the fire! My fingers are crossed for you! Hope your interview today went well!
I know where O is now O is a 3rd grade position about two hours and 15 minutes from my family. It is a suburb of the city I wanted to go to college in, so that is good. I have an in-person interview on the 16th. Yesterday was a phone interview.

Sad day My hometown has filled their jobs and I didn't even get an interview. I really don't understand- they love to hire their own. I even subbed there for a year and a half! I interviewed there once- back in 2006 before my degree was even final. I'm just really hoping at least one of the 6 other districts with openings in my home county interviews me. Last year my first interview was in my home county. I'll be very sad if I don't land at least 1 interview.
I'm sorry. Unfortunately, I know that feeling. It's so hard because you feel like they helped to shape you into the person you are today, and then they don't want you. I'm sure you'll get something though. You're working so hard, how could you not?? Good luck! Just keep that chin up!
I am so sorry I've been there! I wanted so badly to go back to my old school (I was a Director there for 8 yrs) and when it came to interviewing for another position, the Principal passed on me!!!!! I guess an Early Childhood Teacher isn't what she wanted at that point..rumor has it she wanted only staff that SHE hired personally and i was a left over from the old Principal whom was an amazing woman so I know how you feel! Just know EVERYTHING happens for a reason I did get an offer for full time and do have a position in the same district so I believe God just wanted me at this other school to do my work with the kiddos and that at the moment its whats best for me. Try to stay positive..you WILL get something! ((((HUGS))))
*hugs* I know how frustrating that is. They probably knew who they wanted to hire to begin with and filled the other interview spots with people who didn't have any potential. None of my elementary ed friends who I just graduated with have gotten jobs, I do think you have a better shot given your experience. So hang in there, the right job will come along!
Ugh, that has to feel like a sucker punch. Can you do your best to treat it as just another letter on your list? You might not even give it a letter if you didn't interview there. Remember, as much as your teachers loved you, the HR department may not know you and didn't take that into consideration.
They sent me a "we filled the position" email. I know the superintendent. He was my sister's teacher and the P of a school when I was subbing. I went to him for a lot of observation assignments through college. I know the assistant superintendent in charge of HR as well- he was an AP when I was in high school. APs were assigned by last name, so he was not my AP and likely never knew me. I just wish I knew why.... In other news, a small school maybe 3 miles from my mom's house posted a job. This district is very, very small and they are in trouble financially. But I'd take it in a heartbeat. I need to see if the office staff is in at the beginning of next week so I can pop in. I can't tomorrow or Friday morning. Friday afternoon would be another possibility....
I'm sorry, Giraffe. Big hug. I know how you feel. The district I worked in for 5 years before I had kids won't hire me, and they won't hire any of the other moms who took extended childrearing leave, either. They also don't hire their paras or subs. Some districts are just like that. I hope you find something soon!
238 postings applied to. So 18 for today. Technically this week, I guess- I actually hadn't checked ALL websites since Saturday. Since it takes a few hours, I only check a few major ones daily. I did apply for 2 jobs yesterday and 10 on Monday. A total of 30 jobs applied for so far this week. This is why I want to scream at people who come on and say they've applied for 5-10 jobs all season

That does look bad---I mean they can't even get the spelling right on a letter. So maybe then its a good sign. Maybe you are being sheltered from an even worse experience with them Annnnnnd now you are free to take THE RIGHT JOB OFFER!!!!!! It'll happen you still have the entire summer too. We don't go back until the last week in August and I remember how i got my part time position in late October, 2012. I was subbing and got a surprise phone call from a Principal I subbed for a week earlier. Had no idea she had an opening....so it can come anytime.
If it makes you feel any better, the school that hired me misspelled my last name constantly the first year I was there. Granted it was a 10-letter long Russian name, but I was honestly annoyed by it. Whatever, their loss... how unprofessional that they can't even spell someone's name correctly
When I went in to sign my contract last week I was having second thoughts and then on my contract I saw that they left out two letters in my name and took that as a world-shaking sign... I still signed it but still. Come on. At least look at my resume to see how my name is spelled...
They misspelled my first name- it is only 5 letters My last name is Italian and 8 letters. I'd be a little more forgiving I actually laugh when it is mispronounced. No biggie. But to misspell something you have on dozens of documents from me? Not as forgiving. Especially because it is only 5 letters!!
You have some good prospects there. Sorry about the misspelling. Keep reminding yourself, it's still early in the summer.
I had read that 2 new charter schools were set to open in the fall in a nearby city. I wasn't holding my breath since one of them was supposed to be opening LAST fall. However, both of their charters were finalized this week :thumb: They both put up generic job postings, and I just applied :thumb::thumb: One is even a STEM school and I have over 200 staff development hours in STEM It is very close to my parents. I could easily commute from their house if mine doesn't sell prior to September and I'd have a shorter commute that I currently do. The only downside is that they are both in rough areas. And I do mean ROUGH. But, hey, it'll get me home (The other downside is that they are charters and I am not 100% sold on charters- they have decimated the school district these new charters are in.)
Hmmm... Actually the STEM school looks like they are switching locations. While still in an undesireable area, it is not nearly as dangerous as the previous address. I actually did an internship at a school a few blocks from there while in college.
