I plan on going in and teaching. I plan on working all week. Unless the teacher goes early. The baby hasn't dropped yet, so I should have a few more days. Should I'm going to go clear 80% of it tomorrow. I'll leave what I can get in 1 carload. I'll resign Monday and offer to finish the week. Of course, I will renege if the baby comes early. New class has 31 kids and one that speaks 0 English. Still, I could tell in 30 seconds that this would be a breeze compared to what I'm working with now!!!
My money's on the fact that the principal will be in tomorrow, and you'll have a very awkward encounter when trying to pack up your stuff. I can't wait to hear about it!
Not sure why you want the drama. The P's husband had surgery not too long ago and just came home this week. She lives over an hour away. I know for a fact that she will not be coming to the area this weekend since she told us she will not be at the big recruitment thing today. The other admin is out of town for the weekend.
I apparently woke on the wrong side of the bed. I have to go recruit for a school I hate. THIS is why I wanted to resign last week. Then I'd say screw your fair!
Are you just finding out that you have to be a this recruitment fair? If so, I'd say that I have other plans. You do.
Oh my!!! Do you wish you had stayed in NC? How old are you? It sounds like you pretty much had your life together (house, job you didn't HATE) and now look. I guess the grass isn't always greener on the other side, eh? I am so sorry this has turned into a total mess. Thinking of you.
Oh, man. I hope good things come your way soon! On a side note---do all of your things have your name on them? The way this place sounds, I'd be worried about them saying it was theirs, or something bizarre along those lines. Good luck!
I've known for weeks. I've been called out a few times about not taking a long enough shift. I faked some plans this afternoon
I'm 30. I do wish I stayed in NC because of my house. The sale of my house has been a mess, and I will probably have to let it foreclose. I loved my school in NC- that was never an issue. I just was tired of working 2 jobs and getting further into debt every year. Once the burden of my house is gone, I can afford subbing as long as I stay with my parents. It is really the only way to get 'in' here. Long term subbing or being a parapro. The district I have my LTS is pretty large. 9 elementaries. So hopefully this move will pay off.
Well, since this school provided NOTHING, it shouldn't be an issue. But, yes, my name is on almost everything.
I got a load out of the school today. No one was there. I didn't do everything yet. Apparently the 'extra' teacher they put in my classroom on Friday to sub walked out at lunch. They are dropping like flies around here. Another teacher was reprimanded for poor classroom management skills. Supposed poor classroom management skills. Pretty darn sure it is the kids and the lack of leadership in the school. Either that or they hired a full staff of people with poor classroom management skills.
This sounds like a terrible place. Subs and teachers walking out left and right? Isn't any of this being brought to the superintendent's attention?
Charter. No superintendent. The person who quit Friday apparently gave the president an earful on her way out. He is based out of another state, but flies in for a few days every few weeks.
This is ridiculous. P was out. I can't even quit my own job!!! Grrrr!!! Resignation is sitting on her desk. I'm not sure when she will actually get it though!!! My room is at least 75% cleared out. My dad is coming with a truck to get the book shelves and stuff that I brought. (One won't fit in my SUV.) So I will be at 90% tomorrow. The rest I may start carrying in and out on a daily basis. I did not pull everything off the walls yet. I can't stand blank walls. I did pull down my individual numbers and letters. The rest is a few big posters which will come down super easy. 5 minutes and it will all be down.
That's so frustrating! This summer I had issues resigning too, except my admins received my resignation via letter, e-mail, and voicemail...they just ignored me for weeks before even acknowledging it. They didn't want to pay the remainder of my earned salary all at once and had no reason to find a new teacher quickly (as your school will need to for you). I know how frustrating it is to be in limbo. My school was also a horrible awful urban charter, albeit not nearly as awful-sounding as yours. Not much longer till you're free and this is all behind you!
Submit a copy of your resignation, today, to your Assistant Principal or Department Chair. Someone must be "in charge" when the principal is not there; submit your resignation to that person first thing this morning.
giraffe~Glad you left it on her desk, but I would turn in a copy to someone else in charge (if such a person exists). I'm glad that this saga is about to come to a close for you.
I emailed this morning after I thought she wasn't there again. (Turns out she was late- she had an appointment with our authorizer.) I was worried that with my last day approaching they would not have enough time to get someone in there. She had me announce it at the faculty meeting after school, so I know she has gotten it. Then.... SHE INVITED ME BACK TO SUB!!! They are crazy if they think I will ever cross the threshold again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3 more days, 3 more days, 3 more days. I can pretty much take everything else out in 2 trips to my car. I think I will go to 100% moved out tomorrow. And pray that this baby comes early!! From a financial aspect, it'd be nice to work through Friday. It is the end of the pay period, so I'd get another full check. Financially, it'd be great if the baby came over the weekend. She is due the 26th and will be induced on the 26th. So I will go 3 days without pay at the most. I can handle that.
Giraffe, I am happy that your nightmare is almost over. Hopefully, you will like the next school. What will you be teaching over there? I hope the long term lasts longer than expected. Are things better with your stepfather?
LTS is in 3rd, too. So I'll get some 3rd experience on my resume still (because the charter will NOT be on it!!) Stepdad hasn't officially been told. Something was said in front of him yesterday and he went grumpy for like an hour. I'm taking it day by day with him. Hopefully with a baby on the way in the family, things will fly by and I'll stay under the radar.
The ONLY thing left is the stuff on the walls. Even that is not much because I never finished. I don't even have a pen in the building! I'll take everything down tomorrow after school. Friday I will be walking out with the students.
As long as the teacher doesn't go into labor before then right? So happy this is almost over for you!
Yeah but new school is only 10 minutes down the road from the school I'm at now. I could swing by on my way to work if necessary
We're counting the hours with you!! Have you told the kids? I can't remember, have you met your new class?
Met the new kids. Current kids have no idea. Some started to ask where stuff went today. They'll really notice tomorrow because there isn't anything on the walls.
