I think accepting it is the right choice. I don't think however I'd mention while accepting that you plan to keep looking for full time. I'd think that you want them to think that they're awesome and your one and only goal is a full time job with THEM. Now, if they happen to ask you if you'd keep looking for a full time job, that's a different story. I'm not encouraging you to lie to them. I just mean I don't see the need to bring it up if they don't. The last thing you want is to mention it to them without them asking and then having them think you're not really that interested in them. They're not idiots, they know you want a full time job, I just don't think telling them you plan to keep looking is necessary. :2cents:

I also think the LTS is is the best alternate solution at this point. I can't fathom you working at the school and maintaing your sanity. You'll be broke(er) but happier! ;)

:haha: This is like my favorite soap opera now!!!!!

Well, good luck with the LTS and with what's coming next. I received a permanent position from subbing so it could definitely happen for you :) I know it will.

I am assuming your current P doesn't know anything yet?

If you can handle it financially, I think you should take the LTS - you really shouldn't stay at your current school. If you have a teaching offer, you can break your LTS contract, the school will understand. They won't like it, but they'll understand.

The LTS won't start for another month.

I was on the verge of harming children today. I will die if I stay here!

 I know that we are semi-anonymous here but I wouldn't post things like that. Accept the LTS, and know that you can quit this job anytime then. Give two week notice once you sign the LTS paperwork.

Most posters here would be attacked for saying this. I know you have immunity, but that will only last for so long so tread carefully. If you are a danger to those students, get out of there.

(I know you were saying it in jest, but it is not a professional thing to say.)

OK. I wouldn't really harm a child. Ever. Just venting. Had a very frustrating day. The back talk was unreal.

I really hope things work out for you! I completed a long-term sub assignment in a situation similar to yours. Same grade level, stressful environment, horrible behavior from the students. I was so glad to be out of that toxic place! I would definitely take the LTS job if I were you.

How's it going, darling? I think about you every day. One more day until the long weekend, although if I remember correctly you might have today and tomorrow off, correct?

I do have today and tomorrow off. Thanks for thinking of me :)

Tuesday was worse than Monday. Yesterday was a PD day, so no kids.

I went and met the teacher that needs the LTS today. I just got back. I have to talk things over with my mom (since it would require me to live with her longer), but I want to take it. The P pulled quite a few strings to go with me over established subs within the district. He wants me and the assistant superintendent had to clear it since the county's sub training only occurs once a month and the next date isn't until after I would start the LTS. So the P has already fought to have me. I feel like I need to take it. The P is new to the district; he was the P in a neighboring district previously. So a recommendation from him would look very good in both districts next year.

In the meantime, I'm still applying everywhere. I just applied to a K job about 5 minutes ago.

I did not even get selected to interview in my uncle's town. I got the rejection email this morning.

K jobs have popped up everywhere today. Kind of crazy. I've applied to 6 of them today alone! There was also a 4th grade opening that I applied to.

Regarding the LTS, the P also wants me to go to all of the trainings the new hires are going to. It would not be paid, but voluntary. However, that is good that he wants me to do that!

My mom isn't home. I have to talk with her. My dad supports me and says that if my stepdad isn't OK with it, I can stay with him. My parents divorced when I was 5, and I rarely stayed with him over the weekends. It would be weird staying with him, but I could if I to.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you! I wonder if a lot more kinders came to school than the schools had planned for and they're having to add sections.

School starts Monday, but probably. It is just really weird that they all realized on the same day that they need more K teachers!
I doubt that I would get a call for K, but I'd take it in a heartbeat!!!

I just did a little research on my current P. They announced the other day that she was recognized and awarded some honor for her efforts at her old school last year. Well, I started digging, and she was fired two years ago from one of the worst districts in the state.
    Yikes.
That LTS is looking better and better!!!

A district I've previously interviewed twice in called today. The woman initially said she'd like to offer me a 3.5 day per week math interventionist position. I told her I was financially hesitant and that I had a LTS opportunity. (stupid move, but it was impulse. I really can't swing PT an hour a way. Local, yes. But not with a 120 mile per day commute.) Then it switched to interview as I asked a few questions. I scheduled the interview. I literally walked across the room and sat down (30 seconds?) and she called back to tell me it was filled.
She saved me the trouble of canceling, but it was the strangest thing.

I applied for 8 jobs today. That makes about 20 or so in the last 7 days.
5 of them are for one district. It is a really good district, and I'm surprised they have this many last minute positions! K, 1, 2, 3, and 6.

Uggh. My stepdad has consistently been very angry and judgmental about this job search. He keeps saying that I'm going to get fired for missing work and he doesn't understand why I keep looking. I just told him= "I applied for 8 jobs today! Not giving up!" And he angrily said "Good Luck missing work to interview. No one wants a teacher that doesn't show up. They're going to fire you." EVERYONE in my family understands that I can't stay at this job but him. He hired into a local grocery chain when he was 16 and he still works for them as a manager. It has been his only job in his entire life. He hates it and goes to work daily hating his job. I worked for the same chain through high school and college, and he doesn't listen when I tell him that I would HAPPILY quit this job if I could go into a full time position there making my salary that I made in 2007. I hated the grocery store, but now, I know I'd be much, much happier there than where I currently am.
I worry because I know I'm causing problems in their marriage. He hates that I am here. His son stayed with them for four months during each of the last two summers and my mom hated it. However, she never let him know how much she hated him there. She'd sneak downstairs to call me to vent. My stepdad has been very vocal about how he hates that I am here. This is causing them to fight because my mom is mad at him for what he says to me. Rightly so. He gets even more mad because she takes my side. It is just so stressful and I hate that I am causing problems. This is the only reason that I have not 100% committed to the LTS. We are lowering the price of my house AGAIN today. But if I take the LTS, I will not be able to get an apartment.

Sorry for the vent. I'm really not comfortable sharing with family and friends and my sister is busy at the moment. (My sister knows, just no one else.)
