    This is just the worst.

Any chance one of the other candidates might turn it down? Trying to keep hope alive...

I am truly sorry. Sometimes I wonder if they want an actress or a teacher. You will find something better. Please don't stop trying, I know it feels impossible(especially while currently employed), but it can and will happen for you.

I am so sorry to hear about that. Know that you are not defined by that one moment by that one lesson. That one decision. You are much bigger and greater than that. Someday the right school will find you.

Oh, no. I'm so sad for you! I was sure you had it. I know this seems like absolutely no help right now, but there is a plan for you, and this school wasn't part of it.

What does not kill us makes us stronger, right? :hugs:

Since that didn't pan out, now we have to ask---what can we do to make it work for those 3rd graders who deserve a great education?

I avoided alone time with my P today. Maybe she'll eventually forget?

One of the teachers that were hired and waiting on a classroom got the new job in my hometown. She student taught at the school in the grade level, so I am not surprised. She had a dental appointment last week- I'm betting it was the interview.
Another teacher missed the afternoon for an appointment, and another one has an appointment on Monday afternoon. I'm betting they are all interviews.

In other news, a 5th grade job was posted in a rural town about 30 minutes from my hometown. It is the town my grandparents lived in, my aunt and uncle live in still, and where my cousins went to school. It is paternal side, so my last name is the same. Plus, my uncle just retired this year as the varsity baseball coach- he's coached for over 20 years for the school system. He knows board members and everything. I'd expect a call based on my last name alone, but my dad has been blowing up my uncle's phone to ensure it. (Hasn't gotten a hold of him yet.) Well, I'd also expect a call because I taught 5th grade for 5 years in a rural setting!
If (when?) they call me, I plan on being totally honest and hope they will be flexible. I can't miss more work or I will for sure get fired.

Oh giraffe :( I've been following the story and can't believe they didn't snatch you up. You sound so capable, confident, and talented to me. I really admire you for going through this terrible job and keeping up energy and hope, I would be a wreck. (I'm going to tell myself to be more like you ;)) schools that mistreat their teachers, or rather, places that mistreat their employees just make me so mad. I keep thinking if they fire you or you quit THEY deserve it! If you were fired then you could spend your whole time on job apps and I bet you would be snapped up in no time. Haha, I'm bad I'm sorry  don't get fired ;)

If it's any encouragement, I had a friend last year in her first year of teaching who worked at a crazy charter school, and she was able to quit that because she got a new job. It will happen for you too :)

Ah. Uncle said they prefer to hire graduates of their school system. So I'm not sure. He doesn't know the elementary P since he has only been the P for 2-3 years. My cousin knows him though, so they're still working on the string pulling.

I entered a conversation and learned some things.
One of the teachers at my school was offered a position and declined it. Apparently it sounded worse than what we have. She had an appointment the other day.
The teacher that has an appointment on Monday confirmed it was an interview.
I already said that one teacher got a new job and quit.
One other teacher had an 'appointment' this week. Betting it was an interview.
Yet another teacher is desperately applying but is not getting anything.

So, of the 9 teachers, 1 has quit, 3 more have for sure had interviews (counting myself), 1 more has applied, and I'm pretty sure another had an interview, too. That leaves only 3 that are probably not still looking.

It really sounds like the LTS might be a good choice to get you out of an unbearable situation...if you can line up another one after that?

My biggest issue is health insurance. Or the lack of.
My county does have a health plan based on income. After the LTS is over, I should be able to get on the plan. So I'd only be insuranceless for 12 weeks. I need to check into it, but I used to work for Michaels and we offered it to PT people. I'm not sure if it was 30, 60, or 90 days. I could go back to Michaels and work Saturdays only- just to pay for insurance.

Since I would not have a house payment (we're talking January), I could make it on subbing as long as my parents didn't kick me out. It would be half of what I'm making now, but I wouldn't have a mortgage.

I am a Thirty-One consultant as well. It's been hard moving back because I have no hostess to generate more parties. However, I've had 3 people randomly contact me in the last week wanting to do a September party. Hopefully that would turn into more bookings, which could get me an extra few hundred a month.

    I just don't know.

Keep thinking this through. The more you discuss and think about it,the more you will come to a conclusion. What is your time table to respond to the LTS?

Well, I just applied to about 2 dozen positions. I've only been applying within a 30 minute radius because of my current job (and getting time off).
I broadened it to an hour because I now have the LTS as a safety net.

I'm for sure going to call her in a few and tentatively accept it. This way I can come in and meet with them (her and P) and see what opportunities I could have after Christmas. I plan on telling them that I will (obviously) keep looking for full time.

This has been one roller coaster ride for us readers and I'm sure it's been a heck of a lot worse for you, giraffe! It sucks for you but it's awesome to watch you rise above all these challenges!

Good luck with the LTS if you take it and hopefully something will come along that's full-time!! Fingers remain crossed!
