What???? You mean other people read it??? But she only sent it to 333 of her closest friends!!! It was supposed to be PRIVATE. How was she supposed to know someone else would read it?????

    WHEN WILL THEY LEARN?????

(And that's totally aside from the fact that she referred to a class of 7 year olds she couldn't control as "future criminals." The only thing criminal in this scenario is her stupidity.)

That was just stupid on her part.

There is a teacher in our school who say to an aide, "Look around, these are your future gas attendants." Nothing was ever done about her.

The city in which she teaches is predominantly African American. She isn't. I'd categorize it as stupidity, unprofessional and misguided.

I'm guessing because Patterson has a pretty high minority population, and perhaps she's not a member of a minority? She didn't call them "unruly"-- she referred to them as "future criminals" as though that was the only life path for inner city kids.

That she would get a laugh.

    I guess not.

She wasn't thinking...or she thought that her privacy settings would protect her.
Courts have upheld the firing of teachers for much less egregious behavior online.:dizzy:

Posting it on facebook - stupid.
Possibly firing her for it - also stupid, in my opinion. I have heard teachers say much worse.
Calling her racist - absolutely ridiculous.

I actually joined the forum for the New Jersey paper so I could comment on the story.

One of my former coworkers who is a friend of mine on facebook shared a funny comment one of her students said. Other people (some teachers) made comments about how they must be on welfare and that this student must be such a trouble maker and that "I'll probably see this student in my class for time out" and just other comments such as that. I was ashamed and annoyed at some of their comments.

Why, why, why??????????? Why do these kinds of people 1) go into the educational field instead of law enforcement? 2)make a decision to teach in an urban school in the first place??

I'm so serious about the law enforcement comment! Since she sees these young children as "future criminals", she's better off becoming an officer or Judge of some sort......then she can make all the racist comments she likes & harass them to no end! :2cents:
