Units of Study for Teaching Writing 3-5

    I just started looking for this book online. I only see it in the big bunch. Can i buy them one at a time anywhere?

    I don't think so unless you found pieces and parts of the set used. The set is worth the investment. The K-2 set (and I'm sure the upper elementary as well) comes with a CD rom with additional resources, lesson videos, forms, checklists, etc.

    I also don't think you have the option of buying them individually. I have the set (3-5).

    It's very good, but very specific. I couldn't possibly make my kids stick with narrative writing for as long as the UOS suggests. If you really want to follow the method, the UOS are worth it. If you'd rather personalize your own writing curriculum, but love the concepts of UOS, just read and implement The Art of Teaching Writing by Calkins. I followed the first book closely then kind of ad-libbed. But, the philosophy of the program is the best I've ever encountered. I really love it.
