My mom just found out that my little sister (2nd grade) will have to wear a strict dress code (essentially uniforms - khaki or navy bottoms, white, blue collared shirts, white or blue sweater, etc.). Any tips on where to buy these pieces for cheap, particularly online? Because the school waited until the last minute to let people know about the dress code, she said every store is sold out, so I am trying to find some things online for her.
In Chicago at least, Target and Sears are always well stocked with the basics at this time of the year and usually there are good sales. Try to look up French Toast (maybe they have a website?) that seems to be the standard uniform company available at these stores. We have a lot of school uniform stores too. Then again we have 600 schools and probably 400 or so of the 600 do uniforms, and that is just in the city. So we have a large market for them.
Here you go. They are pretty darn cheap, though I bet at the moment a bit cheaper at Sears/Target with back to school sales. http://frenchtoast.com/index.jsp
My kids have to wear uniforms just like you described and we get clothes at Walmart, Target, Sears, Penney's, Mervyn's (except ours closed)...I even found 88 cent shirts at Old Navy once. A lot of the stores have sections with school uniform clothing. I love it. It sure makes getting ready for school easy in the morning. This year, my oldest is going to jr. high and doesn't have to wear a uniform. It should be interesting in the mornings.
I have seen them at Old Navy...I have to walk through the kids section to get to the fitting room...that is the only way I know!!
FYI: I just found out that Family Dollar is carrying school uniforms this year!!!! I just saw them the other day. Who would have thought?????
Anywhere will carry these! They don't have to be from uniform stores, just any store that sells khaki pants and white collar shirts. Even second hand stores are good sources, especially for white shirts since they are prone to staining. I personally love this uniform because it can still be personalized, but not so much that it's distracting or causes issues. It's also generally affordable for everyone, which is always a plus.
