Okay, so I lurked a lot this summer, reading post after post, feeling the support and compassion of so many of you. I resolved to make lemonade out of lemons and accepted a long term substitute position as an elementary school librarian. For years, I have thought I would eventually work towards my media endorsement but I just completed my MAT and wanted my own classroom more than anything in the world. However, since I've been subbing, I've had the time of my life, connecting with over 550 kids each week. Nearly a month ago, the position was posted and I applied. Yesterday, I interviewed. Today, I accepted the position. On Monday, I am officially a library media specialist! Mostly, I just wanted to thank you all for renewing my optimism when I was convinced that things were not going to work out. I'm ecstatic about my new position and cannot wait to sign all the paperwork. Thanks again. You guys are AWESOME! Best wishes to you all.
Congrats - enjoy your new position and have fun encouraging and welcoming students into the great world of books.
Congrats! I'm a library media specialist too - in New York state. It's the best job. I love being able to see every student in the school. Getting kids excited about reading and what the library has to offer is very rewarding!
