I have a teaching certificate but I did not go for a 3 year teaching job so I think my certification will expire. What are my options to be in the education field as a teacher. I love small group teaching instead of large groups...Large groups specially in low income schools do not work for me well.
    Need suggestions!!

Could you go into special education? Private tutoring?

Thank you so much. Though I am interested in furthering my education, I am more in need of finding a FT job . I was wondering how to become a Reading or a Math Specialist , if possible ? What jobs do they do? How can I become one? Any special training or certification that is needed?

The process to become a reading or math specialist varies from state to state, newteacher1. It's usually sketched out in state regulations, and I would expect the Arizona department of education Web site to have something to say about it. Requirements can include a certain number of years of full-time classroom experience.

Wait, why can you not renew your license? I was subbing when mine was about to expire, and I simply took a college class in my core subject (in my case, a writing class) to fulfill credit requirements. Is something else holding you back?

If certification requirements haven't changed, you can probably just renew your initial certificate since you haven't taught under it. (That's how it works in my state at least. After three years you advance to the next level, but if you haven't met that requirement you just renew the certificate that you have.)
