I was browsing face book today and my 14 year old cousin was tagged in a photo so I clicked on it. It was a picture of one of her teachers wearing only a bra. The kids were talking about her and making fun of her. I feel bad for this lady. Then they posted a link to what looks to be her myspace profile with similar pictures.

I already looked up and emailed the principal of the school to let someone know what was going on. I hope those aren't really pictures of her and that they get them taken down quickly. That would be so embarrassing. Now I think I am going to go through my pictures which are rather tame and up my privacy settings.

Just a reminder...kids will be kids! Be careful what you post.

Why would someone put pictures of themselves in a bra on the web? Common sense people!!! I am VERY careful what gets put on the web and have my privacy at the max.

I do NOT understand how supposedly intelligent people continually allow this to happen.

Seems to me that someone who allows herself to be photographed in a bra deserves what comes next.

The only people who get to see my bra are my husband and my gyn, and perhaps my daughters if they walk in as I'm getting dressed.

Could it have been a bathing suit?

I'm glad you notified the principal of the school. Not something I would want all over the internet.

The parent of one of my kids from last year just called me tonight in tears because she just found out someone has been taking pictures of children at their Sunday school and selling them to pedophiles. He has been arrested but she is so scared because pictures of her daughter have now been spread across the US and she is feeling so vulnerable! The man has been arrested in a sting and they found the pictures on his phone - he had been volunteering at 3 different locations and babsitting! He is charged with molesting 3 and child porn on numerous counts for all the pictures. I didn't know what to say except just support all the feelings she is having and recommend counseling if she get's stuck in the stage of being scared. Any recommendations, anyone?

Could the pictures have been faked?

This is very scary and I'd be very upset if I found this happened to my kids. :( It's very sad that we have such sickos in our world today, but life goes on.

I would reassure the Mom that her child is still safe. Yes, someone might have a picture of her daughter, but that person does not have her actual daughter. I'm hoping they'll be able to catch everyone who bought a photo, but really this could happen in public at any time. You could bring your kids to a park and some creep takes a picture without you knowing, etc.

As long as the daughter is safe--- no personal information was given out about the child--- then things will be okay. I would have the parents talk to the child about how to be safe if a person comes up to her and asks questions, etc-- but ANY child should know what to do if that happens.

    Right.

And I would be having some serious conversations with whoever is in charge of that Sunday School.

Question though: how is it porn?

I think some of the pictures were taken up their dresses so some had their faces and some didn't. He must have been really sneaky because the Sunday school is strict about never leaving an adult alone with children. They also all were fingerprinted and background checked already so he had no record. They are now going to install cameras in all the classes and have someone monitor them whenever children are present. One thing she was upset with is that he was arrested at the end of April but the parents weren't told until this week.

Pictures might have kids bending over, hugging another child, sleeping on the floor, etc that certain people might be able to see that and think of it sexually.

Since this person also molested children, it shows that he knew exactly what these types of people would be interested in.

    So very sad...

A teacher at the school where I started teaching at was arrested back in May because he had child pornography on his computer. He would bring that computer to school even, plus he had a science club (they'd go caving and camping), was the swim coach, and would be a counselor at a summer camp. The community was SHOCKED!

It doesn't matter if the person was fingerprinted and had a background check--- if there's no history of them doing this (because they haven't been caught doing it yet) there's no real way of knowing what they're capable of.

I'm surprised it took that long for them to tell the families--- the school community found out the same day he was arrested (probably because it was all over the news too). The police might have asked that the church not share the information yet because of them needing to build a case, not sure, but even with all of these precautions in place, we still end up having to simply trust the people who are hired to work with kids.
