This time of year definitely makes the list.

All the end of year assessments and paperwork. Every time you turn around they're giving you more paperwork to do!

My ultimate top 5 least favorite times of the year:
    5. Specific Parent/Teacher Conferences (you know which ones)
    4. The Week leading up to a field trip
    3. Any day that you know rain is on it's way (hello-kids are natural barometers)
    2. The week before testing week
    1. End of year Assessments and Paperwork

My ultimate top 3 least favorite times of the year:

    3. Particular parent/teacher conferences--those ones which will surely be tedious and/or generally bad

    2. Testing days when studets still have to go to their afternoon classes--they're already mentally exhausted before they even walk into my classroom

    1. Assembly days--it's hard enough to teach everything I need to teach in a regular period, and it's all the more difficult when each period is cut down by 15 minutes

Parent Teacher conferences can be pretty interesting. You think "that kid" in your class is annoying or "not all there?" Look at mom and dad.

    3. Any day there's a field trip.
    2. The week leading up to Field Day.
    1. The week we're required to have school AFTER all grades have been turned in and report cards have gone home (remind me of the student motivation for this again?)

My least favorite times of year include:

    1. NOW-there is so much to do and it seems like more is added every day! And the kids have completely shut down their brains for the summer, even though I have to keep teaching.

    2. A couple weeks ago when we had a field trip, a track and field meet, the school attended a baseball game downtown, and Take Your Child to Work Day all on four consecutive days. The kids were climbing the walls by Friday from all the deviations from routine.

    3. Whenever we get to the lessons on plant reporduction (pollination/germination/etc.) The book uses the terms "male sex cell", "female sex cell", "sexual reproduction". No matter how hard I try to avoid using those terms or get the kids to focus on the idea that we are talking about trees and flowers, they simply can't handle it.

    4. Whenever we get to the sacrament of matrimony. You'd think Annointing of the Sick would be harder to deal with since it center around death and dying, but so many kids are from broken or blended families that teaching about matrimony is almost painful. I'd rather teach sex ed.

    5. The few weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks.

    1. Field trip day (today)
    2. Week before Christmas--they're so wild
    3. Week after Christmas--they're still asleep
    4. The week of school we have after end of the year Honors Day and Spring Fling (This is getting ridiculous)
    5. The week after the time changes (either direction)

They should be walking through the doors any minute. I think they're coming with a massage therapist and a psychiatrist.

NNOOO!!!!! If that ever happens, I'll quit the profession! Right now I'm in desperate need of the 10 weeks without kiddies. I don't think I could handle year round school with this group. Besides, we have no AC and I refuse to teach in these horrid rooms all summer. August/September is bad enough.
