=) So I got into Twilight last week and had the whole saga read in a week. Does anyone have any suggestions for another addictive series to read?? I'm going through Twilight withdrawal...

I don't know MrsHoot. I was watching True Blood on HBO but that doesn't come back on until the summer. I'm counting down until it comes out on DVD.

    Internet news today:

Dakota Fanning is possibly being cast in New Moon...(what part would she play? The article was VERY brief...)

Jane is the vampire in the Volturi family that can make someone think they are going through something they aren't.

Did that make any sense?

Why would she play Jane?? For some reason I pictured Jane to be middle aged and plump and short. I haven't read the half book online-- where's that?? STG makes perfect sense to me!

I have yet to see the movie. I got my friend obsessed and she should be finished with the first soon, so we're going to go when she's done.

I think she would be perfect as Jane. And Vanessa Hudgens (sp??) is auditioning for the part of Leah.

Right now I am re-reading Confessions of a Shopoholic by Sophie Kinsella. The movie will be out in February and the books are FANTASTIC. Not nearly on Twilight level, but good and funny just the same.

I have seen the movie in the theatre five times. I can't seem to let it go......

And March is only a month away! (Ok, a little over a month)

Jane is described as being young in the book, along with her 'brother' (I forget his name at the moment). I think Dakota Fanning would be good for the part.

My students and I have also become addicted to the House of Night series. It starts with Marked; there are 4 books out with a 5th book due out in March. We think the series is better than Twilight.

STG thanks for the clarification. I think sometimes I ignore what the author says when she's describing people, and just envision whatever I want. haha

You are welcome. I have a group of kids who have fought reading any kind of book, but they have really been into the Twilight series. To keep them going on reading, I have been trying to find series along the same topic to keep them going. You can also try Wicked, Witch Season, and Maximum Ride .These are all books that I can not keep on my shelves on school. I have enjoyed them as well!

I have it on hold at the library so I will definitely be checking into the series that you originally told me about. That's great that you can get your students involved and excited about reading!

I just finished the last book an hour or so ago. And although I plan on reading that manuscript online for the book that wasn't published... I can't help but feel a little sad that there aren't any more books. Its a good thing my classes are starting to pick up and I'm getting more homework, because I don't know how to spend my time without twilight! hahah!

I was sad too. =) I've started the manuscript and it's pretty interesting. I wish that she would finish it though. I may just start re-reading the books eventually again...

Oh yay! I read on the website that she will be finishing Midnight Sun. I really should learn to read the whole page instead of just skimming.

I can recommend a bunch of addictive series, but I'm not sure what kind of books you like. If you want more vampires, there are a couple of great books by Anne Rice. I would recommend "The Vampire Lestat" and "Interview with a Vampire" for starters.

The Harry Potter series is also really good, if you haven't read it yet!

The Wheel of Time series is also good, and the books are very long, so it will take a while to finish. The first book is called "The Eye of the World". It is a fantasy series in another world.

    Have fun!

June 2008 Update: In response to the outrageous number of emails that I have received with questions concerning Midnight Sun, I talked to Stephenie this weekend and she asked me to let everyone know that Midnight Sun is her next project. She has not yet finished writing it (and there is no timeline set up, so we all need to put a lot of effort into being patient for a while longer), but she is definitely still planning on having it published. And, after Breaking Dawn comes out, Stephenie will have much more time to focus on writing Midnight Sun.

It was right in the middle of the page where she wrote the letter to her fans.

I"m not sure of the date, but the manuscript for Midnight Sun was posted on the internet w/o her permission. After that, she said she wasn't going to finish it. But after the mass of emails she received, she said she was going to go ahead and finish it. I'm not sure where it's posted on her website though.

Check out the "Outlander" series by Diana Gabledon. Romance, lots of interesting Scottish history, sexy Scottish dudes with sexy Scottish accents, and characters that will haunt you forever after you're done reading. They need to make that series into a film. There were lots of rumors about it, but nothing ever happened. :( (By the way, the first three books of the series are the best - and they're L O N G.)

I just bought Twilight and New Moon myself. I'm only on ch 5 of the 1st book though. Had to find out what happens next after I saw that movie! And I don't even dig vampire flicks at all.
