Anybody ever use those ovulation predictor kits? I bought them. It's really frustrating waiting to see 2 lines with one being darker than the test line. Today there was 2 lines and I sat there staring to see if the 1 line was darker than the test line. I hate this!!!!!!
It's a kit that tells you when you're ovulating. It's pretty similar to a home pregnancy test, I think.
Yes, it is similar to a pregnancy test. It tells you when you're ovulating so that you know when to do the dirty deed!
I lived on those darn things for a while. I hated the lines, so I got the smiley frowny face ones. Make sure you do it the same time each day, it's more consistent. I did it every morning when it works best. I hope this helps
These are how I actually got pregnant for the first time and now I have 3. The other 2 just happened without the kit!!!! It is really easier said then done...but just try and relax and try not to focus on the end result! It happens when you least expect it...Good Luck! :woot:
Hmm, I was thinking about getting these. First Response has the new "monthy" pack that has 20 kits instead of the 5 (I think?) the normally give you. I'm unpredictable, so I guess the more I have the better. I hate reading lines, but I didn't know they made smiley/frowny ovulation tests??!
I used them too, after 2 miscarriages. I wanted to get preggers right away. They were very precise. Just make sure you read the directions very carefully on how to read the results. I almost threw it away not really knowing that it was time for the baby dance. Oh and I used the cheapie brand and it still worked.
Use the smiley ones. No worrying about misinterpreting them. They are more expensive, but if you can't afford the kits, you certainy can't afford the diapers! ;o)
I have the 20 pack and for the past few days I have been testing in the am and pm because I am so close to seeing 2 dark lines. I don't want to miss it.
If it is negative, the circle will be empty. If it's positive, you'll see a little smiley face. Pretty simple!
Thank you ver much for the info. Did they help you get pregnant? I feel like everyone around me is pregnant. I just want it to be my turn.
Do your best not to stress about it. I live in a military town so everyone is always pregnant The month it happened for me, I didn't use any predictors, or take my temp, and I really didn't think I stood a chance. I have a brand new box of those with the smiley faces sitting upstairs - that's how little chance I gave myself and now I'm 4 months pregnant. I cannot read those lines - digital tests all the way - for ovulation and pregnancy
Those kits were pretty new when I was ttc, so I never used them. I used charting and basal body temperature. Man I wish those were more reliable "back then". I will for sure keep you guys and your baby dreams in my prayers.
We have been trying for 2 years and I know all about those predictor kits. The smiley ones really are the best but they are a little bit more expensive. I think the ANSWER brand are AWFUL. I liked the clear blue easy or First Response the best. If the second line is lighter you are not ovulating. If it is so dang close you can't tell then assume it is a positive and attack your DH. Now when you get your first positive it means you will ovulate in the next 12-36 hours. When I got my first positive I always took it for couple more days. There are other signs that can tell you if you are ovulating. You might have slight cramping over one of your ovaries. It can vary from month to month on which side you are ovulating from. You can also tell about by your cervical mucus. I will let you google that one since some ladies might not want to hear about this one. lol. You can PM me if you have any questions. I have become a pro at this. Unfortunately we have a ton of infertility issures so that's why we haven't gotten knocked up yet. No worries though
Try not to stress. This won't help you get pregnant but it will help with your sanity. How long have you been trying? Also the average person under 30 takes 6 months to a year to get pregnant. If after a year you are not pregnant then most doctors will run tests to find out why.
This is my third month trying. I know it's not that long but I'm scared because I think my having hypothyroidism might slow down the process. My doctor said it could be a problem. I am on meds for my thyroid though and my numbers seem to be normal now. Oh, and my hubby is 37 and he wants one now. I will pray for all of us trying to conceive. I know there are at least 4 of us on AtoZ.
I have not been officially "trying" until last month...we just weren't careful over the past 2 years. I guess that's just not enough! Good luck to all the others trying, I'll keep everyone in my baby prayers
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!How precious! Thank you sooo much for sharing this with me! Did it take her long to get pregnant?
She had other issues as well...the most major being only one ovary, and during the surgery to remove the now missing ovary and clean up some cycsts, they perforated her uterus and had to stitch it back together, but, it took them just under a year to get pregnant, and then the stress of the high risk pregnancy. He's 4 days old now
I completely understand what you mean. I am right there with you. I am using the ovulation kit as well. We'll see what happens.
My wife stood on her head for five minutes each time, with her feet resting against the wall. We were never in any particular hurry, so six months (which I think it was what it took the first time, and then two or three months for our other kids) didn't seem like a long time. Take care of your body well during pregnancy. Take DHA (i.e., fish oil) tablets daily -- they've been shown to improve the baby's IQ (baby food now often is supplemented with DHA as well). If you can't afford the tablets at GNC or whatever health store you have close to you, salmon has a lot of natural DHA. Also try to keep your eating healthy and get exercise if you're capable. And, as runnerss mentions, try to keep your spirits up.
Boy sperm are faster than girl sperm, but girl sperm live longer, sooooo.... While it's all still very much a matter of chance, deliberately trying to time things one way or another can increase the odds of one gender.
yes, and there is some research on the amount of alkaline/acidity that can be helpful-Also, a lot of my friends started taking pre-natal vitamins to help their bodies prepare for the pregnancy.
I elevated for 20 minutes with two pillows under my hips. I only have one child so I do not know if you should elevate longer or not. Good luck in trying, but remember to enjoy time outside of the bedroom as well.
Yes! Don't limit where you try, just be a little discreet!:haha: Yes, I have. Lots of things, and tried as many as I could. None worked.
So, I have been using the ovulation kit now for four days. This morning I finally saw a smiley face. Does this mean I am really fertile for the next two days, or am I totally off on this?
