Can anyone tell me the tests that I need to take if I transfer from CA to TX? I have already taken CBEST, CSET Math I & II, and in the process of getting a credential from a California School. Will Texas State accept credential from California?

Thank you for all your replies.:)

Most likely Texas will have their own tests for certifications. Do a search for the Texas Department of Education. Also, take a gander at the subforum on tests here on A to Z. TeacherGroupie seems to be a wealth of knowledge.

go to SBEC, I tried to post the link, but it wouldn't let me. I am a teacher in Texas so if you have any questions please feel free to ask. Once on the SBEC website click certification information and it will tell you if your tests will transfer. If they do not, there is study materials for the Texas tests.

oh my gosh - you sound like me! I'm from TX but teaching in secondary math in CA and was looking into getting TX credentials as well! Yes, contact SBEC. You can do the application online and submit materials online. There is a review fee. Then they will give you a One-Year credential, so that you may go ahead and start teaching in TX. You will have one year to fulfill the rest of the requirements. I think along with a test, you have to take a TX history course or U.S Constitution course or something?

I've gotten my One-Year TX credentials, but I'm not transferring now, so I haven't followed up with the additional requirements yet.

    Good luck! :)

I haven't had to take this test. Is this something that has come up in the past 4 years?
