In my classroom for student teaching, my CT had magnet strips cut that had each students name, placed on the furnace/air thing. The students would move them under hot or cold lunch and that is how she tracked attendance. I didn't see any thing that I could do that with in my new classroom, so I'm looking for ideas on how to track lunch and attendance.

I set a lunch calendar on the back table, right inside the entrance. I have popsicle sticks in a cup, and then containers marked 1,2,3,4, and 5 (we have 5 different lunch choices each day). The students just take a popsicle stick and put it in the container for which lunch choice they want.

I don't do anything special for attendance-just look around for who is gone.

That's simple...there was a teacher across the hall that did that. I might do something like that.

I have a sign in sheet where they make their lunch choice. When the helper takes lunch count, they write who is absent on a sticky note and put it on my desk. It's really nice!

I do this using a smaller white board. Its about 3 ft x 2 ft. I have one side that says absent and the other side is divided into brought lunch, main entree, grilled cheese, and burrito (our lunch options). Works great!

I've used clothespin on picture frames.
