Tour my classroom! School begins Monday, and everything is in place for the most part. I hope you enjoy the visuals. :)

It looks great - warm and enriching. I'd like to show mine here when it gets a little easier to do. I have next week to finish. I'm jealous of all the space you have.

Our rooms are all tiny. Room for the desk, a table, a file cabinet, and four computers. It is FULL. Thanks for sharing.

Lots of great centers set up and colorful walls too! Are there desks in the room? Or tables? How do you have those set up?

Desks in L shapes, groups of four! The only photo you can see with them has a student and I standing blantantly in it, and I don't want to post it on here. Maybe I'll find another photo that will show the desks and not be a boring photo.

Thank you for all your compliments. :) I hope you all have a great year as well.

Thanks for sharing! I start teaching on Sept. 1st (for the first time!) and I haven't really been able to get into my classroom yet as they are still cleaning the school. It's very helpful to see other teacher's rooms...you gave me some great ideas! :)

    Math center....

I liked touring your classroom. What exactly does your math center entail? I'm trying to decide whether or not to do one.

Could you let me know what the membership benefits are for each level of your cranium commanders. Love the idea.

I'm sorry about not answering about Cranium Commanders before... and... I'm still deciding about benefits! :) Maybe someone can help....

The math center includes games, flash cards, hands-on manipulatives, and books. There are also definitions on the wall in the area.

Yes, I have carpet. But you should have seen it before!!!! Light tan with large BROWN stains! The carpet was 15 years old, so it was replaced this year with the nicer colored carpet.

WOW! I can't tell you how jealous I am of your BIG room!! How I wish I had a room like that! You've done a great job of making use of every area. I think your Cranium Commanders idea is fantastic. What a neat way to encourage kids to keep striving!

Fabulous! Your website is amazing, by the way. I, like everyone else, am jealous of your big room. I wish I could set up subject-related areas and keep them up all year long! Where do you get the brain teasers that you use for your students? I want to have plenty on hand this year for those who need some extra stimulation in math class.

Ms. Jasztal-I tried something like yours, but not as fancy. I didn't have much time. So far, I've got some good comments.

Cranium Commanders is not my idea. It is the original idea of a teacher in Oregon named Mrs. Renz, and she calls it "Brain Busters". It is basically the same concept... yet I wrote my questions differently because I teach in Florida and I wanted an entire Florida History category on there.

I get my brain teasers from many sites... if you go into my math/science section on my webpage, I believe I list four different sites where I pull these from.

So you dont mind if I "borrow" the concept and adapt it for my kids? It is such a great idea; I love the concept of pushing kids to go above and beyond, plus it's doable even for those who are not necessarily gifted academically.

I am so jealous! I didn't get a real classroom last year...then had to resign and still don't have a job. I can't wait til I get to decorate my own room! Everyone has such great and fun ideas! I love you room!

Of course not! The only thing that is copyrighted is the "Cranium Commanders" name, but the idea is free to use! :) I borrowed the idea in the first place... :)

Thank you! My classroom was extremely small last year, about half of the size of now, in the back of the classroom library.

The cubbies are actually built into our classrooms, and without it, I know I wouldn't be as organized! :)

Your room looks great and I am also jealous of your space. Can you tell me about Cranium Commanders? All of my children are high achievers and this seems like a great idea for them. I didn't read the exact explanation and how you organized it on this post...just your resources. Thanks for sharing.
