1.) Looking for and hopefully buying a house (or at least renting for the time being while actively looking)
2.) Preparing for next school year - better this time around
3.) More hikes with my wife! (And some kind of trip, TBD, when she has a couple weeks off around our anniversary)

You guys are having fun, and I am trying to knock off a couple of grad courses. I might get to see a show in NYC, and I am wanting to go to the Natural History Museum. Not as much fun as the rest of you, but if I am not driving to work every morning, it is a win!

I'm not going to count the board game convention we went to, because it already happened, so:

Working at a residential program for gifted kids, which is my favorite thing I do each year.
Family mini vacation with all my siblings at nieces and nephews in New Olreans.
(Finally) sitting down and finishing my graduate thesis, after I get my house clean and organized.

Is anyone on Goodreads? They have reading challenges every year and my goal for the year is 150 books. I am 4 books behind schedule right now which isn't too bad considering I will make a lot of headway while off from school! I can't wait :toofunny:

I'm not on Goodreads, but may have to join eventually. I haven't read a kid's book (i.e. lower than the "young adult" books, i.e. Hunger Games trilogy) in seemingly a decade, but after reading The Book Whisperer, my goal is to read 20-30 books this summer, based on my current students' suggestions over the next week. Eventually, I'd like to get up to reading 50-100 books a year if possible.

I'm sporadically on Goodreads--never keep up there as well as I could. I have pledged, through another site, to read 100 books this year and am on pace right now for 124. Once summer reading starts, I'll be well over 150, I'm sure, by the end of the year. I'm hoping to read at least 40 books this summer, a mix of thrillers, YA novels, middle school books and picture books.

I forgot, I'm also painting every room in the house. Did the kitchen yesterday. My arms are killing me today.

My goal on Goodreads is 60 books, and I'm 4 books behind schedule, but I'll catch up once summer starts in 3 days. 150 is amazing! Wow. I keep reading more each year. Reading The Book Whisperer and teaching 5th grade is what got me back into reading again, which was always my favorite hobby growing up. I try to read a lot of kids books so I can recommend and discuss with my students, but I mix YA and adult books in there, too. I brought home a TON of books from my classroom library, including copies of all the book club books I haven't read. I don't plan to read all of those, but I like to have a selection.

    1. Spend a week at Disney World at an on-site hotel. We have annual passes and live 10 minutes from the park, but actually staying there is a unique experience.
    2. Original plan was to spring clean the house, now the plan is to REALLY spring clean because DD is coming home to live (that's a good thing!).
    3. Swim, relax, enjoy being home.

We went in June one year for our honeymoon and omg...it was ridiculous! It was also warmer than usual - 96 or 97 degrees every day plus high humidity and a thunderstorm every afternoon. We aren't strangers to heat, but CA heat is DRY. It's a totally different experience with the humidity!

Anyway, we said never again in the summer. We went in May when I taught year round and it was much better - 80s. I'd like to go in October during our fall break.

Chicago is great, not been there in high summer though, I understand it gets extremely hot. Some great beaches. Go around the lake a bit into Indiana and there are some fantastic dunes.

My list just changed...hubby decided we need to repaint house. He tricked me into going to Lowe's with him yesterday and walked out with over $200 worth of painting supplies. He has had me painting the kitchen this morning. Dining room and living room are next! I hate painting. I am going to need a pedicure and manicure after we are done.
