I went to Target two weeks ago and was surprised to see the back-to-school displays were starting up. By yesterday, the entire summer seasonal section was down to 2.5 aisles and the full school supply section is out. Is it just me, or is that a tad premature? (Note: very few schools were I am start before Sept. 1st; nobody is year-round, most of the kids end at Memorial Day) We've just now started discussing the supply list for our kids at my school. The families won't have it for probably another week. Quite frankly, seeing the school displays starting two weeks after we got out for summer gave me a touch of anxiety about not being ready, and then I double-checked the date and felt better.
It does feel like the back to school section went up a lot earlier than usual this year. Teachers here go back around the first week of August and kids start around the 15th, but the target near me had stuff out at least a week or two ago. June is too early!
We usually start the first week of August, with open house often in July. I’m surprised we haven’t seen stuff out yet here. They’re cleaning out shelves for it, but nothing out yet.
