So, I landed a pretty promising interview for a Title I teacher (10 minutes from my house, yay!), but I'm not completely sure of all the responsibilities of that position. I know that I would be providing extra support to those kids who need it... but in what subjects? Do I decide, or is it up to their classroom teacher? What other responsibilities might I have? Thanks!
Congrats! I've taught Title I before. It mostly consists of helping students improve their reading and writing skills. I've also heard of some that reinforce math skills.
In my area, Title I mostly refers to remedial reading, but some are remedial math Title I is most often for students who are low-income and/or struggling readers. In my experience, you will need to understand IEPs as well.
Good luck! It really depends on the school. Some are reading only, some are reading and math, some have 2 teachers (1 for reading and 1 for math). Out Title I teacher has to do a lot with parent involvement.
