Getting out early Friday this week and next, so 6............
May 17, 2018
I'm not sure about the other post with similar dates, but I live in Minnesota and in order to start before Labor Day the school has to petition for permission so most schools start the day after Labor Day. We get out earlier since we don't have a long spring break and live in a major tourist area of the state, so parents want school out as early as possible.
Oh gotcha. Now it makes sense. I would rather have a slightly shorter summer and a Spring Break. I need those 13 days off, lol!
The kids are done! I have a meeting at 8:30 tomorrow, and then need to tidy my classroom, and then I'm done! I hope to be out of here around noon tomorrow!
Four... more... days....
Possibly 4 1/2.......*fingers crossed*

2 more days!!!
Last day of school!!! Teachers still have to be here tomorrow, but it's a half day and we get to work on checkout all day.
I'm officially on summer break!
May 24, 2018
Same! All checked out and I get four whole days off before summer school starts next Tuesday lol.
We get out at noon on June 7th. My principal will be out (due to a medical procedure) from May 25th-June 6th. Not looking forward to holding down the fort all alone.
Today was our last day with kids, and tomorrow is half day for teachers. Two of my sweetest kids started crying about 9:00 this morning, so it was an emotional day.
I need a nap.
Tomorrow! 1/2 day. We can leave as soon as we have our checkout paperwork completed. I will grab my purse and leave with my students.

Today is my last day with students and Tuesday is checkout day (if they even give us a checkout form this year...).

One more day! So close I can taste it!

49 days........yep, already counting.
Our graduation is tentatively May 17th and everyone else is May 22nd. As long as we don't have any more missed days, we should be good.
We have missed for snow and flood and flu, so our days keep piling up. We were supposed go get out May 17, but last I heard it is the Friday after Memorial Day. However, we have missed two days since then. We are never getting out.
June 27th for students and the 28th for staff.
I feel you. I'm hoping they don't push ours back. We have extra days of school built into our traditional calendar because we basically always anticipated show days and stuff. We've basically used up our cushion though. I think we can miss one more day before they start making up days.
I have 18 more days...I only work 2 days per week

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I am SO glad my school doesn’t make us make up missed days that are beyond our control (due to weather or natural disaster).
And I'm glad we make up days. I'd prefer to work the full contract, not to mention have as much classroom / instructional time with the students as possible.
Meh. We just cram and catch up that way. It still works out in the end as my students still score a 4/5 on their AP tests, on average, so it’s all the same to me.

True. I guess if the purpose is just the test, then the days after the test are meaningless. There's learning happening until the final day, here, even though our state tests are in May!
I see where you’re coming from and I partly agree. It’s not *just* about the test, but at the same time if a student passes the test with a 4 or 5, then that clearly demonstrates their mastery of the course content, which is the overall purpose of the course. And most of my students (~80%) are STEM-bound anyhow and so the knowledge they acquire in my class will stick with them through the rest of their high school, collegiate, and adult careers.

We get out on May 17th. Between now and then we have 5 days off for spring break, and two days off for Easter. We have 38 days left, including exams.
So when do you go back next school year?
June 13th is last day for students.
August 8 for teachers, August 12 for students.
We have a schedule where we have longer school days and shorter school years, and more breaks. So our students are in school 8 hours a day, but we have more frequent breaks from school.
What breaks do you have and for how long?
8-hour school days?! How many periods do you have per day and what is the length of each one?
Mar 16, 2019
We have seven periods a day. Each is 55 minutes. There's also 30 minutes got lunch and passing time between classes. Our breaks thus school year are:
Labor Day - one day
Fall Break - three days
Election Day - one day
Thanksgiving - five days
Christmas Break - twelve days
MLK - one day
Winter Break - three days
Spring Break - five days
Easter Break - two days
Sometimes we miss as many as 28 days. That’s beyond cramming.
Oh, wow! I was thinking 5-7 days or something close to that, not on the order of a month of instruction lost.

Districts in my immediate area let out May 23-25.
