Do you prefer this over the traditional schedule?
I really do! We get the following g breaks through the year: 3 day fall break in October, election day, week for Thanksgiving, 2.5 weeks Christmas, MLK in January, three day winter break on February, week spring break in March, 2 days Easter in April. It breaks things up nicely, and I get to travel a lot!
Fair enough. My public school mirrors most of what you have stated in terms of test scores, everyone taking at least one math course beyond algebra 2 and volunteering, although we don't mandate any club participation (thought most students participate on their own....unfortunately in some cases just to beef up college apps). That said, I still think our kids would go even further if we didn't have such an excessively long summer break. I would also definitely push back on you about 30 HW problems a night for a variety of reasons, but I won't turn this into a full blown HW debate : )
The spring session ends June 29th. We'll then get a week of vacation and then head into a six week summer session, which is thankfully Monday-Thursday only.
I never realized how much variation there is! We get out June 8th and go back day after Labor Day. My union members wanted us to start a week early and get out a week early. I was looking st them cross-eyed! Our climate never warms until July and bugs are horrible in June. Weather is nice through April. My ideal would be to go through June and start in Sept.

7 1/2 weeks left, May 28th.

June 8th. We return on September 4th.
Mar 23, 2018

26 days. 26 days from today I will have my master's degree and be out for summer.
Middle of June
When do you return to school?
Congrats on finishing your Masters! That’s exciting!
June 29th--9 more Mondays!
That's a scary thought! A lot has to happen over the next 9 weeks! That means about 45 more days to pack it all in.
Beginning of September
6 more weeks!!! no wait...five! Five more weeks!!! Back mid August. 8 weeks off!

Thanks much! Graduation ceremonies were Friday which I was allowed to participate in, and they were amazing, but now I just have to finish the requirements, which at this point is just the thesis defense, but since my adviser is riding emus in Mongolia, or some such nonsense, until May 20, I can't defend until then.
3.5 weeks now!
That's how I feel as well--so much still to do!
Last student day is May 25 (last teacher day is May 29). Teachers go back August 27 and students start back September 4.
Similar to yours, last student day is May 23, last teacher day is May 30. Teachers go back August 27 and students start back September 4.
17 days of school... of those, 3 are field trips (2 in one week - yikes!), one is field day, and one is Career Day.
Everyone is ready to be done -- our social committee has been awesome though, we got donuts and cake last week and bagels this morning! Makes it easier to get through testing and end-of-year craziness.

ugh, no, I read calendar wrong - 6 more weeks. Sigh.

This is the first year where I still feel like it's October. I'm in no hurry to end this year. It's been one of my easier ones, having just one class to prep for, and 3-4 free periods to do so. I already know next year will be more challenging so I'm fine sticking in this year for a bit longer.

We are down to 12 student days plus 1 work day! Within those 12 days, I have:
-2 staffing/IEP mtg. days
-1/2 day of transition mtgs. for the incoming Kinders
-1/2 day early release
-2 day PD about the new math program we're using next year
-2 days of data teams
-Assemblies/"graduation ceremonies"/other special events the last 2 days
I've figured out I have a grand total of 2 days for the rest of the year that I will actually be teaching my full, regular schedule all day long...this Wednesday and next Wednesday.
Thanks to the snow & flu days we missed, we are 20 days away from the end of school, but I have very few teaching days left.
five days are for state testing
one day for reading benchmark testing
one field day
one MAP test reward day
three teacher only days (election day, memorial day, closing day)
last student day (award days/promotion ceremony)
What the hell happened to the three French hens?

I'm giving finals this week....seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!
May 12, 2018
How do you have almost a 3-month vacation?! I thought my summer break was good since I get 2.5 months.
May 13, 2018
11 more days, and about 200 things on the schedule! This week alone, we have the county library coming to promote their summer program, the million word reader celebration, a disco lunch party, grade level cookout, graduation practice, field day, and multiple assessments! The calendar will slow down after 5th grade graduation on the 21, as many won’t return for the last few days after that.

As of right now at this minute not soon enough!!!! lol We get out May 24.
This is how I felt on Friday last week, and I don't even have a class this year! My groups are all in one room though, and this class of kids is driving me crazy. Every time one of them comes up to my desk and I hear, "Miss M?" for the TWELFTH TIME IN 2 MINUTES I have to take a breath before I answer, because what I want to say is, "What do you need NOW? You were just up here THIRTY SECONDS AGO."
Thankfully I have a quiet classroom to myself today (the teacher is gone and the class got split), so I'm doing some prep for next year. We still have two field trips this week though, so I know I'm going to need all the rest I can get today!
Lucky, I have until May 31st. 16 days for me.
