I'm just curious how many months it took people to get pregnant? I've posted this on a pregnancy site but there just aren't that many people that post on it. So I thought I'd come here where there are always TONS of people with good info. :D

It took us 9 years from the time we started trying until Julia was born.

But only 1 year after we adopted Brian.

They say that happens something like 4% of the time.

    Five years...

Depending on your age and how long you have been trying, you may need to see your doctor.

I have heard if you are under 35, doctors will tell you to keep trying for a year without medical intervention. After 35, it's about 6 months.

    Good luck!

I'm 33 and I've also read that doctor's won't be concerned until a year of trying. We've only been trying for 4 months...but it's been a long 4 months. ;) I'm also concerned about the timing with school b-c I have certain after school commitments and concerts that I really need to be present for including rehearsals. Looking ahead at due dates some months will just be out of the question for trying.

I wouldn't schedule ttc around my job. There are no guarantees, and having a child changes your priorities.

The first time we ttc for 4 years. Our first son was stillborn. We conceived our second son one year later (they were born 20 months apart). Started ttc again when he was 18 months old. That was 2 1/2 years ago. We're still trying.

I know it's hard, but 4 months is really not long in the grand scheme of things and well within the typical range of achieving pregnancy. Have you read "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler? I highly recommend it.

    First daughter: 4 years

Second daughter: a much wanted surprise! ( I was still nursing baby #1, hadn't had a period, and when I had been feeling crummy for several months went to the doctor and found out the good news. )

I was 28 when we started trying and nearly 34 when our one and only was born. I had two miscarriages after that, and then we decided that one was just right for us.

I was 29 when we started trying with my 1st one, it took about a year before I was actually pregnant. My 2nd was a complete surprise 6 years later...I think it had something to do with me selling ALL of my baby stuff that summer!

My first took 3 months, my second was almost 2 years. That was really hard, after relatively quickly on the first. We've been trying for the third for almost a year, nothing (yet!)

I fully expected it to take 6 mths to a year and had planned on that. We got married on May 6 2000, we started trying about the end of May, once I was on DH insurance--we were telling our parents the end of June (I was 28 and had been off bc for a couple of months b/f we were officially trying and on vitamins from the gyno). 2nd one, same way I went off the pill in Feb. had a positive pregnancy test March 17th. I had always heard with the 2nd you start showing right away. We were in FL for a funeral and I put on my dress pants and they were tight--took the test as soon as we got back.
