They're mint milkshakes that McDonald's sells during March

Milkshakes are to be vanilla or chocolate or malted. Anything else is wrong.

And while I'm on the topic, there is only one beer that you drink on St. Patricks day and I think we all know what that is. Hint: It's not green.

These have been mentioned before and I've never seen them...I wouldn't want one, but I still think it's strange I've never even heard of them with the exception of through A to Z.

I just did a little research and apparently they've been around since 1970 so I'm even more surprised! I love the Internet...these shakes have their own website to help people locate places offering them. People are desperately seeking a McDonald's near them. :haha:

I had my first shamrock shake last week. I saw it on the menu and thought, "Wow. That's weird. I want one."

They disappeared here in 2008, but rumor has it, that they have returned to Canada. I just may drive past McDonald's later to see if they are in my city.

Looks like they are back in Ontario; I'll have to check out one of the two I drive by on my way to work.

Ok, here's the deal...last March, I saw them when driving home from Syracuse on the NY Thruway and I didn't get one. I figured I'd get one on a lunch break or on a weekend, but NOOOOOOO! There was not one blessed SS to be had in my entire county (I called around:eek:)...so today, I was at the craft store in the county north of us (in NY state...what is it with NY and shamrock shakes?) and saw a sign for them in the McDs there...pulled right in and got one:p...it's not the traditional minty shake...it's just a whisper of minty-ness and such a pretty green...it's a sure sign of spring...yup. Crocus, robins and shamrock shakes.:D

I remember them at the McDonald's next door to my apartment when I was doing my student teaching. I started to get one, and the person taking my order offered me a taste before I got one. She assured me they were really nasty.

She was right. I thought it tasted like Kaopectate.

That was in 1993. I still remember the taste. Yuck!

Green shakes, even with whipped cream, just do not seem appetizing to me. Have an extra for me!

I saw them on the menu a couple of weeks ago and almost got one just to get one (I had my first one last year and I thought it was good, but not as good as vanilla), but decided against it.

OMGosh a person after my own heart!!!
We have had like 3 of them so far. We get a big one & split it!!!
I don't know how you can eat a shamrock shake without french fries. Hubby brought them home & lil ones & I were dipping our fries in our shakes... of course hubby made a face, but lil one said "What it is the best!!!"

This is about the only time we eat french fries from McD's!!! It is tradition for us!!!

Now, if they were to put a shot or two of Jamison's in the shake, perhaps we could talk.

Never tried a shamrock shake in my life. If I want a green-colored shake, I'll have a matcha green tea blast smoothie from Jamba Juice OR a green tea frap from Starbucks, which I drink all year round. But, maybe I'll try this shamrock shake..unless it has a minty flavor that is.

Hmmmmm.... the McDs close to my house didn't have a sign or anything but when I asked, they had the shakes! Minty, like a peppermint patty.
