So I went into work today and finally met with my teacher's assistant. I told her that she may want to speak with the principal now that she was back from vacation about her schedule for the year. We now have over 10 children enrolled for the afternoon and legally I cannot be with more than 10 in my room by myself. Last year we were under so the principal had my aide do recess duty for the older grades during lunch. Not a big deal. But I found out today that during her meeting with him, he is still trying to get her to do recess duty for this year. I had asked her how he planned to do so. She said that he would get one of the other teachers from the other grades to watch the preschoolers with me because he felt that continuity would be good for the kids on the playground (meaning having her out there every day). But what about my kids? I would think 8 and 9 year olds could handle change better than my 3 year olds. He also said that giving the teachers recess duty off is one of their perks. That made me furious. What about my aide and myself? We get no breaks (besides our 20 minute lunch) throughout the day. THe other teachers have their specials (PE, library, computer, music, etc.) in which they are without their children. I guess I just don't get it. Our principal said we would discuss this further next week. Any suggestions on how I could handle it?? PLEASE HELP!!!
