Just when you think you've had your last interview...I just got a call from a Principal for a maternity leave position. EMAIL DOES WORK! At this point I will take it, even in an undesirable district. I was being too picky before, but now I'm going all out with these resumes and applications. Wish me luck and send some positive vibes this way!

    JaimeMarie,

My summer has been filled with a part time job at Shoprite, weddings, christenings, two sick grandparents, and grad school. So much for relaxing! :)

Don't worry about the money you spent on mailing out apps...I've been there too, but once you finally get your job and you're happy, it will seem so well worth it:)

    Fingers are still crossed!!! :)

    NJEledteacher-

I'm not sure where in NJ you are, but I know my school has a maternity leave position for all day Kindergarten starting in January and I believe it will be the rest of the year (she's having twins!). If you are interested in info, send me a PM. :)

Hi, Leigh - if NJ isn't interested because of the distance, I would be.
    I'm in Burlington County.

    Hey, NJ
good luck at teh interview!! I've been there too - being picky, that is.
I am now bringing up the district lists from NJDOE and sending to every address on there. Next I am going to go to the school lists and send to every elementary school principal listed in there!!

Thanks for the thoughts. No, unfortunately I don't have a teaching contract for this coming school year, yet. I do however have a fulltime clerical summer job, a 10 week maternity LT this fall, though.
    :)
I was just kicking myself the past couple of weeks, because I haven't had the time or energy to look for a teaching position, when I got 2 phone calls requesting interviews. I got really excited, but then after a great deal of thought decided not to go for either one of the positions due to the fact, that I am not certified in either special ed or Art-Highschool area. :( Sure, I could push and take all the course work during my first year of teaching and make it , I think... but I don't know if my family would survive it. After almost losing my hubby this summer, I just can't take on that much challenge.
I am happy for you, JanieMarie. About your opportunities, that is. Go for it, Girl. You know you've got talent, and dedication and heart. Now all it takes is for someone to crack that door open a bit and you can shove your foot inthere and show them your stuff!!!
Good luck, break a leg..... etc...

Oh My! well smack my mouf! my reply came right after your interview review. Sorry.
JM, you probably did better than you thought. Especially with your talent and tenacity. Everybody has moments, days etc, where they feel they are walking down the street with the back of their dress stuck in their underwear and toilet paper(used) on their shoe.:D
I am sure it wasn't that bad.
I will say a little prayer for you, light a candle, cross my fingers etc etc. let us know what you find out.

Laughing Munchkin don't worry I thought you were talking about the interview I have tomorrow or the one I have on Monday.
I'm going to read up on some things.

Does any one have an answer to
What centers would you use during your literacy block for kindergartners?

This is what I said (I think)
I would have a center where they re-read their guided reading books, finding words that they know.
A center with learning ABCs (like abc go fish) and eventually have go fish words. I talked about how the average student needs to see a word 14 times to remember it and the struggling reader needs to see it at least 40 times. From there I talked about finding the words around the room. Also, talked about having a phonics center. And a listening center.

I can't believe it. I thought it would be a breeze, I just figured they would have the same district questions as the other school. That's too bad! What was different this time? Was the interview team unfriendly? I'm so sad...

Well--on to a better subject: Good Luck tomorrow. Don't let this one get you down. You have experience and the knowledge it takes! Be confident!

Thanks JB. I don't know what my problem was yesterday. May be that Steve didn't sleep all night because he has a cold so kept waking up. Oh and that stupid A/C. I slept so much better last night. Maybe my brain will work today!
It sure looks like we are going to be having a nice rain storm. I hope it holds off until later.
I can't decide if I should wear my suit up there or just a nice black skirt and white short sleeve blouse. My suit I think needs to be dry cleaned. And it is way to hot to wear the jacket. Yesterday I just carried the jacket.

What happens if it rains and you are wearing a white shirt?! I'd go with the skirt and blouse because of the weather, but I was just thinking about the white shirt thing... Good luck today! :)

I always wear my jacket even when it's hot out because from my experience, even when the schools don't have AC (most around here don't) they have a window unit in the office so the offices are usually cool. If your suit needs to be dry cleaned, though, I think a skirt and blouse would be fine.

Ok ya'll I left at 8:50 so didn't get your message. I got off the net at about 8:30ish or before that. Anyway I think the interview went well. They are picking three candidates to come back up to meet with the interview. She wants to try and call those picked by Monday.
Oh and it is only 2 hrs and 20 mins there. It's a one classroom per grade level school up to fifth grade.
Anyway I am hoping ot hear from the 1/2 time position there is only 5 mins from my house.
    There is the update!

To many people down there. I am outside cleaning my car. I need to go get an oil change. Thinking about either walmart or VIP since I really need to have it done before I head off on that five hr drive tomorrow!

Well, taking care of the car will make you feel more comfortable before the drive, so I can see getting that done. You really are a get-up-and-go type of person, Jaime. Do whatever works for you to keep that wonderful spirit up!
