Just found out I might not be offered a contract next year because of cuts. This sucks. This is my home. I'm happy here. :(

    You said "might."

    Hang tight until you know.

Prepare for the worst, but don't assume it's coming your way.

Oh, that would be a bummer. But as Alice pointed out, at this point it's still a "might" so keep hoping for the best. Hugs.

I know, I'm just upset. I've been crying for about 3 hours now--I'm a worrier.

Let it go.... Often the districts start to warn teachers and in the end, they find the money because in the end, they know that large class sizes are not good for kids and BAD for test scores. Hang in there!

    I'd cry too, and I'm a worrier.

I hate this for you, but try to focus on the "might", and try not to worry. In the meantime get your finances in order, pay off as much debt as you can, which is just got financial management anyhow.

Hang in there - districts always paint the worst picture possible to cover their backs. Just keep on hoping! We are here to listen and support!

Huge :hugs: I'm so sorry you received this news. I agree with Alice though. They said 'might'. I'm a worrier and crier too so I'd be right there with you.

It is really difficult not to worry but remember that most districts will send out way more notices than will actually get laid off. In our area pretty much everyone without a contract got a pink slip this year but 95% of them got rehired.

I'm sorry to hear that!! :hugs:
I'm also in Iowa and our school has NO IDEA what is going to happen due to these lovely budget cuts! Yesterday we sat in a meeting and were told we may lose staff...we may not! Gee...thanks...that's helpful! :(

I hope everything turns out alright for you!

Truth be told, no one knows what the upcoming budgets will bring, or what cuts will result from them.

What part of Iowa? I think the whole state is cutting staff. It's sad!

Eastern Iowa...close to the Cedar Rapids area. I don't think it's looking good for any district right now. :( Hopefully it turns around soon!

:hugs: I'm a worrier, too. Hopefully, though, the news will be good!
