I just finished my last semester of classes and will start student teachin in January. I found out who my supervisor is early because she is one of my former professors who i have kept in touch with she has told me my placements and i havent even got any info from the university yet so im excited. The last 4 years have went by so fast but yet so slow all at the same time but it is great I am almost done and about to be looking forward to finding a job. On a brighter note my little sister is getting married in 2 days and my brother and his fiance just told me they are having a baby in july so im am super stoked and life is just great right now. Im happy to be so close but so sad to see all my classmates and I part our own ways next semester. we are a cohort so they have all been my school family. they will all do well and maybe one day some of us can work together again.
Congrats! Student Teaching will go by soooo quickly! I know now that I am subbing, I feel like I shouldn't be getting paid for what I'm doing because I love being in the classroom...and heck...student teaching we had to pay to be there! just lovely! Good luck in finding a job - I do suggest that you start looking in January - & get your portfolio/resume/cover letter together NOW. I waited...and didn't have enough energy to do it during student teaching...soo I ended up completing them after graduation - in May - which was after most schools hired for the following year.
I also student teach this spring. Your lucky that you already have your placement!! I can't wait!!! I want to know NOW!!!! Jspader02 I am done with my resume and revising my cover letter. I just need to tackle the portfolio.
i have my portfolio mostly together i just need to do some revising, and I have my resume mostly done just have to add my bachelors degree to it. Can anybody tell me what and all I should have in my portfolio, what is impressive and what isn't. what should i definitely have in there and what should I stray away from?
I am going to be student teaching in January also! I can't believe it! I would also love to know what is important to have in your portfolio. I don't think in my district you are allowed to apply before you graduate for a position.
I am involved in the ATPE organization at my school and they have a whole section online about portfolios and resumes I think would be helpful to you. However, I can't seem to put the link in my reply. If you PM me I will be more than happy to e-mail it to you.
I too just finished. It goes by VERY quickly. The best advice I can give is ask to teach the subject that you're weakest at the most. Math was always difficult for me, so I decided to teach it a lot and now I enjoy math! Good luck!
I think we have all been in your shoes & many of us our still there. When you have your blissful ignorance taken away following a M/C it makes it difficult not to question everything when you get your next BFP. I know that I sobbed from fear more than happiness when I seen the positive sign. I just couldn't explain to anyone why I was more scared than happy. I can say that it has gotten a little easier as the weeks have advanced. Yet, I also have to say that I have had a difficult time accepting/bonding to this pregnancy. It was a matter of keeping my heart protected I guess. As I have went through milestones I had set up in my mind such as seeing the heartbeat on U/S the first time, hearing the heartbeat with doppler first time, watching the baby flip & move around during U/S, and now starting to feel the baby move, I feel myself accepting & embracing my pregnancy more. I hope you can come to this point in your own time too
