I was so psyched for this interview as I have only gotten

less than a handful of interviews this summer

Shortage in special ed??? Not really!!

I was there ten minutes early I student taught in this district.

The person before me was offered a job right on the spot :confused:

I always the next in line:dizzy:

It was very obvious what they were doing my interview was delayed so they could call her reference then they walked her over to certified person to start the process right away!!!Q

In my interview it was kind of tounge and cheek now we are making a list of who we may call back. . . .

    I was standoffish . . .

once again I will probably get hired after school starts geez
    I hate that. . . .

Postings are so far and few locally I do not want to get stuck in traffic yet!!!!

I'm thinking of going back and adding my mod-severe credential only take 4 months and one more student teaching ---

a chance for another reference and give me more jobs to apply to. . .

I might be willing to relocate at that point!!

    sorry for the rant!!!

    Stephanie

That is just about the most unprofessional thing I have ever heard of. How could they hire on the spot with you waiting?! They should have *at least* given you a proper interview, then called her an hour later. Having shown up, you deserved that courtesy at the very least.

    Sheesh.

I know a job is a job, but would you want to work for anyone who thinks treating someone like this is ok?

I can't believe that they hired her right on the spot without even interviewing you especially since you were sitting in the office already. They should have at least completed your interview and they could have just asked her to wait or something if they were in that big of a hurry and knew they just had to have her. Hopefully something else will pop up soon for you!

If they were going to hire her they should have just told you the position was filled. It was discourteous to make you wait.

I'm sorry to hear that happened to you. I have been in interviews where I felt like they had already chosen who they were hiring but never in an interview where I knew the person was already hired.

"hugs: That's unreal. I've been in interviews where I knew they already had someone in mind for the job... but I've NEVER had to wait b/c they filled the job on the spot and then be interviewed "just in case." How rude!

That is just ridiculous. Well my spiteful attitude says to everyone, if that happens to you...Go in there and make them regret not waiting to interview you! Make them wish they could change their minds!

That's astounding. How would they react if you made them wait while you accepted another position then interviewed with them "just in case"? They would think you were very unprofessional, which is what they were. :dizzy:

I hope that district is nowhere near me!!

Aww.... sorry to hear that. That was pretty rude. I mean, you were THERE waiting!

So what was the waiting like? Did you have a clue what they were doing to delay your interview? And what about the candidate? was she in the outer-lobby with you...just smiling (Like a bird that ate the canary)? I can't even imagine.

    ****

The last interview I went on..I had a feeling it wouldn't be a home-run before it started. The woman-who I think might have gotten the job-came out of the office and told the principal and vice-principal, "Thank you." And they gushed back... "NO! Thank YOU!!!"

    Oh ... crap!

That's awful! I am so sorry this happened to you!

I often wonder....once someone is on an interview committee...does all common sense and decency leave them???

I had an interview last year for a perm. sub job - as soon as I walked in, I knew it was useless. Niether of the adminstrators even got up to acknowledge my presence - they simply kept looking down at their papers. After I gave my background info, the assistant principal said to me "You probably won't get the job, but I will tell you about it anyhow." T heonly reason I didn;t get up and walk out is because dh works in that district

That really left me with the warm fuzzies - NOT!!!
