I have taught Kinder now for 4 years. I also have a background as a sped teacher. I am thinking of moving up to 1st grade. Has anyone moved from Kinder to 1st? What would you say is the biggest difference? The good? The bad? The ugly? It seems like kids would be somewhat more independent?!

    Thanks!

I have a coworker who moved from 1st to Kinder and she prefers Kinder because that's when you see the most growth in the kids.

Every year is a year of tremendous growth.

OP, if you are considering a grade level change, maybe go observe in a classroom of that grade. Would your admin entertain a grade change request this late in the year?

Well yeah, every grade has a lot of growth, I just meant it's more obvious in kinder because they're still learning basics. A lot of our kids come in without any preschool experience so it's pretty cool to see what they can do at the end of the year

Wondering if you made the move and how is it going? I moved from kinder to 1st, and it's going good. My only problem is in kinder I was self contained in first I am not. My partner is a brand new teacher and is kind of making it difficult occasionally. But I will survive.
