I'm trying to prepare myself for the worst...I pretty sure I have a job for next year, but the following year does not look good if things don't change.

What happens if/when you rif'd?? Let's say a year or two down the road things get better and they need teachers. Do they automatically call teachers who were let go or do you have to reapply again?? I love the district I work in and it makes me sad to even think about this, but I need to prepare myself.

I also need to think about what I would do if I couldn't teach. This is only my second year teaching and I was a stay-at-home mom for eight years before that. :dizzy:

There's probably stuff in your contract that spells out what happens during the RIF process. In our district, teachers who are laid off have first dibs at positions as they open up.

My plan in the event that I am RIFfed is to return to school full time and earn additional certifications.
