Here's a website that lists lots of activities. I don't know where you live, but just be aware that you will probably experience almost daily thunderstorms in the afternoon and it will be quite hot and humid. Clearwater is a lovely place to visit!

You will want to go to Post Corner Pizza. It is the best pizza on the beach. Any Frenchy's restaruant (they have three or four) is good to eat at.
You can go to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium where Winter lives from the movie Dolphin's Tale and see her.
It will be hot yes but not always rainy in the afternoons.
If you are willing to drive into town they have a neat frisbee/air golf park.

PM me for more specific things your family might like to do and I can give you more ideas.

The Don Ce Sar is the "big pink castle" hotel on St. Pete Beach which is very close to clearwater. They have a great ice cream shop called uncle andy's- the first time I went I was around 9 years old, and I loved getting ice cream and playing/getting shells on the beach. 16 years later I still enjoy going there :)

If you're willing to take a drive, Weeki Wachee springs is about an hour north. It's the "city of live mermaids." The sunken gardens are in St. Petersburg.
