Trying to brainstorm themes. So far I think: -camping -color combinations (black with neon accent) -space
I'm in 5th and I do a hippie/tie dye them. You can get the stuff everywhere and almost everything matches
Camping could be really cute and fun, but this is the perfect year to do a space theme. Are you familiar with the New Horizons probe? http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/15/us/nasa-new-horizons-pluto-flyby/index.html Check out that link if you aren't. Just two days ago, the probe reached Pluto! It would be a great topic of discussion with your students.
I've taught 4th and 5th. Some of the themes I used are: Space Cupcakes Sock Monkeys Bright Colors in general
Smart cookies Rock stars Shining stars We all fit together (puzzle pieces) Learning is an adventure ( jungle theme)
In the past I've done board games, animals and space. This year I am doing a Mario theme (Super Mario, Mario Kart, that kind of thing) with everything from the AR tracker, to the brag tags, and a new Mario-opoly themed Homeworkopoly.
I'm struggling with a theme name for outside my door. I'm doing just all bright and colorful but I want a saying for it. Like Owl themes are the "look whoooos in X grade" A jungle theme is "wild about learning" Popcorn is Look Who's Poppin; Colorful is ???????????
I am so not creative when it comes to this, probably because we can't decorate our doors. Anyhow, have you tried Pinterest for ideas?
Oh yeah...I'm currently working on a Masters of Arts in Pinterestology I have an embarrassing number of credits...er things pinned and I just started. But I can't find much. Most of the colorful rooms just have a welcome on the outside.
Our 2-4 teachers are doing a Western Theme on our floor. As a 4th grade teacher, my grade partner and I are going more on the sophisticated side. She is using burlap and black to decorate, and I am using black and red and bandanas. I'm trying to stay away from the "cutesy decor" this year.
