I didn't get the call I was waiting for today. Needless to say I am beyond disappointed. I feel so foolish for being so confident. The interview went great and I just had a "feeling" that I got the job. Apparently you can't always trust your gut instinct - mine was WAY off this time.

How do you guys deal with the rejection?? I've gorged on some chocolate ----- now thinking I need to trade my milk for an adult beverage.

Before you totally write off the fact you didn't get this job, have they called to tell you that you didn't get the job?? Just because you didn't get the call today, doesn't necessarily mean you didn't get the job. Time frames to job seekers and time frames to the people that do the hire aren't always the same :) So unless you have actually been told you didn't get the job, don't give up hope so soon.

I haven't been told that I didn't get it - but I was told during my 2nd interview that they were only calling the person they selected and that they were calling on Monday, so the board could approve it on Thursday.

Thanks for trying to help :)

Well I wouldn't count myself out yet. I would email or call tomorrow to see where they are in the hiring process. They may have gotten delayed.

I do understand where you are coming from. About a month ago I went on an interview that lasted a long time. I left knowing I had the job only to get the dreaded rejection email.

Send out an email to the P and/or everyone on the interview committee and ask them if they have made a decision? That way you will know definitely instead of waiting for a call, and maybe even show you are proactive and want the job.

    :hugs:

Call or email! Things happen and deadlines get pushed back...happened with my job and I was sure I didn't get the job.

Any suggestions on how to word my email? They told me they would make a decision Monday - How do I say it without sounding like I didn't listen to what they told me?? Any suggestions?

:hugs: I would wait a day in case they call. I was told on a Friday interview that they would be doing 2nd call backs at the beginning of he next week. I got a call 2 weeks later and wound up getting the job. Things are crazy this time of year and deadlines move. Hang in there! :hugs:

I would just acknowledge that they said it was Monday, but you just wanted to check as you know it's a busy time of year. Something along those lines.

I usually say when I interviewed, for what position, and with whom I interviewed with. Then I say something about I was curious where they are int he hiring process. Then say that something that you remember from the interview that you learned and liked...maybe that you know you'd fit in because of this or maybe you spoke to someone and learned great things...blah blah blah. Or maybe that they are your top choice. Put your contact info and close the email. Make it short and sweet.

If you haven't heard no, then don't give up hope! During my first interview, the P said that she'd call me in a couple of days. That turned into over a week. Then she called for a second interview and the rest is history! :)

I really appreciate all the positive thoughts-it's just that they seemed so specific about calling on Monday due to the upcoming board meeting. I guess on the bright side I have another interview next Monday at a charter school. Thanks again everyone-I really need positive vibes :)

I agree with waiting it out. This is such a busy time of year for administrators. While we're off relaxing for the summer, they are dealing with budget and staffing for the upcoming year. They really might be just behind in the process. Get your mind off of it and go do something that will make you happy while you give it another day or two. Let us know what happens!

They may contact their first choice on Monday, but not everyone else because that person may not take it.

Rejection is hard. I've been around teachers all my life with my mom and her friends. Teachers preschool through college loved me! Someone being picked over me seems so personal when it happens. Maybe they went with someone else for reasons that have nothing to do with you like balancing personalities or experience level on the hall. But this is a time for tough skin. Can you take anything away from the interview? You said you did well. What are the things you want to make sure you do/say again? This just makes you more prepared for the next shot! Feel sorry for yourself for a day then get back in the game!

Whooo! Congrats! I had the same thing happen to me, had "that feeling" that the job was mine, then waited, and waited, no word for weeks, and then the offer! I' so happy it came through for you!

I was feeling so sad when I started reading your post. I know someone who was feeling the same way--sure he had nailed it, then didn't get it.

You gave me goosebumps when I read that you got the job! Terrific!
