apply everywhere! The district I applied to last was the one that hired me. It's a 45 min. drive, luckily opposite the traffic, and I didn't even think about that district until someone on A to Z mentioned. Good luck to all out there!

Jlyn--I had to move in with my parents a few times. If you have a relative that can help you out do it!

I don't mind a bit of a drive now that I'm getting a new car. It's used but better than my clunker! I can't wait.

I'm back. She told me that I knew exactly how to teach math and loved how I communicated with parents. The downer there were 114 applicants for the position. When I left there were two others waiting. They did not look happy. I smiled real big and walked out. Let's make the competition nervous. (Gosh I can be so evil sometimes.) She won't make a decision until thursday/friday.

    Good luck MAT!

Jessica, I wish I lived closer to you too! I applied to a few more places today and kids are going back to college in the next couple of weeks so I'm crossing my fingers.

So I went in today to meet with the teacher I'm covering for the maternity leave. I was also supposed to meet with the P to sign some more paperwork and talk to her about some things - yeah, she wasn't there. Apparently she had a meeting; she knew I was coming today but didn't bother to let me know. I live 30 minutes away and now have to take another day off of work to go back out there to meet with her. UGH. I have a bad feeling about this school, well the administration.

The teacher I'm replacing seems really nice though and I really think I'm going to like this job - at the end of it I'm going to be upset for sure. The teacher did say though that she didn't know when she'd be back; she might be out through November.

No! You have to pull the old... "good luck to you".. and when she says thank you, you say, "Wait... is that? Spinach in your teeth? I guess... well... hmmm... you have a great interview." And then you walk... knowing that she will be smacking her teeth the entire time.

Stinks about the P but on a bright side (I hope) the teacher you are replacing for maternity leave will decide to take even more time off to spend with her new baby. They do grow up so fast! :)

Back from my morning interview. Totally zonked on it and started babbling a little. It's all good though because I have another interview today at 3pm! That's three interviews in two days. So hoping this is my year.

I'm getting ready to take off for my interview this morning. After that I have six new positions to apply for. I'm so hoping that this is my year. The interview this morning is for a position that went up yesterday. I applied at around noon and got called at 3 to come in bright and early this morning. Crossing my fingers, toes and everything else that I will get good news this week.

I'm back. It was my first panel interview and I was so nervous. I think that they liked me but it's hard to tell with three men. LOL! They said that they will make a decision probably tomorrow or Friday. They want the person to start next week.

Got a rejection email :( It wasn't for one of the positions I interviewed for at least. I almost like it when there weren't positions posted. At least I didn't have to face the rejection.

I know what you mean, MAT. The rejection is the worse! At least when there are no positions you can justify not getting a job as there being no openings, but when there are openings you begin to wonder, "why not me?"

I had an interview last week that I thought went fabulously. It's extremely hard to get a position in the school system I went through, but I thought maybe it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be since I got an interview. Probably not the smartest thought in the world.

Like I said, everything went wonderfully. I decided to give them the weekend to figure out who they wanted before calling them. I called Monday and the positions were filled.

During the interview, the P and assistant P told me that most principals already know who they're going to hire before they go through the interview process. I pretty much already knew that. After being rejected for the job on Monday, I got upset. I kept thinking it just wasn't fair.

I don't see how fair it is to go through interviewing all these people when you already know who you want. Why get the hopes up of all those interviewees? It's very rude! I know they have to do this for legal reasons, but I would have thought they would go into it with an open mind. That's the least they can do for those people they're going to send into these hard times with nothing.

Monday I put in my application for subbing. The thing is I won't be able to get calls and all until September since I have to go through an orientation. Once again, I think it's unfair to make someone who is certified go through an orientation.
