I really enjoy baking, and since I have more time right now, I have been baking more frequently. The only problem is, I then want to eat it all! I made peanut butter cookies last night, and I can't keep my fingers off of them. At this rate, they'll be all gone beore my husband gets home from work!
I know how you feel! When cookies are fresh out of the oven -drool-...lol...yum yum...i want to make some now!
I often make cookies a few times a week. My rule is that I never bake more than 8-10 at a time. The rest of the dough goes straight into the freezer.
I know what you mean. I have a giant cupcake pan I want to try out but I'm afraid if i make it I'll eat the whole thing. I'll have to wait for a special occasion LOL
I've seen that pan! Is it the cake mold thing that makes the giant cupcake? It looks soo cool! When you do try it, let me know how it works!
My sweet tooth is really getting the better of me this week. I've already made two batches of rice krispy treats, chocolate covered frozen bananas, and I bought brownie mix, more rice krispy treat ingredients, pancake stuff, and an ice cream cake for my little guy's birthday. If I don't stop I'm going to weigh 500 lbs.
You all sound like my hubby...first he wants cookies, so we make cookies, then he says why did you make these all I want to do is eat them...NO WIN for me!!!
Yes, it has 2 parts. After you bake the cake you put the top and bottom halves together! I can't wait to try it.
Me toooooo! I consider baking to be my favorite hobby. But I never know what to do with stuff... except eat it myself. My BF is trying to lose weight (as am I) and he is like, why do you make this stuff??? lol. SO I don't want to be a feeder for him. Then I take it to work and it doesn't get eaten, everyone is trying to watch their weight. Oh well. I am going to my parents this weekend and I have some ripe bananas so I might make banana bread tonight.
Oh, I have that giant cupcake pan. When you use it, make sure to look up reviews online - they were very helpful. Otherwise, one side will cook faster, it will be raw inside, etc.
I love to bake too. I try to throw in some healthier things then it won't matter so much how quickly we eat them. Like I love to make pumpkin muffins. They're yummy and healthy enough to even eat for breakfast.
I add oatmeal to choc chip cookies to make it healthier. You can also sub. applesauce for the butter.
You know, I have always wanted the time to bake but don't have it anymore. I really want to take a big batch to the guys who keep our street clean during the winter - we live at the top of a huge hill and it is scary. These guys work all night long and keep our road in decent condition. I have also wanted to take a batch to the garbage men. They are so considerate! If we forget to put out our garbage (has to go out in the morning because of bear activity), they will come to the door to remind us! They even offered that if we left the garage door unlocked, they would get the can out for us. I can't get the can up the long steep driveway, and they never complain about coming down to get it. There are lots of places we could take cookies or baked goods to in the community that need to feel appreciated. How about the public library, or children's library? The hospital front desk? Or a small batch for elderly neighbors? I think it would be fun to take a batch on the airplane for the stewards - wouldn't that be fun? So bake away all of you, and bless some people around you.
See, that's why I think I have job security. I bake it then take it to work (after a little taste test of course, isn't that what chefs do)! The part I hate about baking is cleaning up! Love the baking part, hate the clean up part!
My sister and I were shopping at Christmas and we saw the pan, and she was like, I want that! And then she said, wait, I don't really because I don't bake - I just want someone to make me a giant cupcake. lol. So I bought the pan and made her a giant Christmas cupcake. I even managed somehow to get it into a box and wrap it. lol. She was soooo excited. She said it was her favorite present. She ate it with her hands and she wouldn't share it with anyone. lol.
I love to bake, and I love to eat, and it shows. Since I have joined WW, I have been adapting recipes to be lower in calories. I have found Splenda to be a wonderful sweetener. It works well in pumpkin pie, and fruit pies. It doesn't seem to work well in flour based goodies. But, I can live with sugar free pies.
(groan) I LOVE to bake. It's my favorite thing to do! Last week was peanut butter chocolate chip cookies, tomorrow it's going to be a red velvet cake. And I'm like Kindercowgirl - I always bring "extras" into work!! But if anyone has a tried & true delicious chewy oatmeal raisin cookie recipe... please, please, please send it my way! I haven't found one I really love yet. And I promise to share virtual cookies with everyone *Edit: I really, really, really want that cupcake pan. It's gorgeous and I feel like if I don't get it, I will never be a true baker. Where did you ladies find them?
Blue, I totally agree about the splenda. I did snickerdoodles with them once, and they came out so sweet-bread like. I am going to try splenda in different proportions next, maybe half sugar half splenda. Or, I may just have to use it in pies! Chebrutta-- I agree. I need that cake pan! It is just too cool!
Why don't all of your wonderful bakers share you goodies with the senior center, a day camp, retirement center, food pantry, or with someone in need?
I read that it will bake evenly if you bake the bottom half first for 10 minutes then fill the top and then finish baking it. Does that sound right?
I am on WW too so I have NOT baked anything lately. I have read about a brownie recipe that uses mashed up black beans. They say you can't even tell and it's way lower in points than regular brownies!
WW hint- you can make a cake using a boxed mix and diet soda- any kind, and only count the pts for the mix. The cake still turns out fluffy because of the carbonation. It is a delicious way to still have sweets!
Gosh; that giant cupcake is too cute!!! I also have a terrible problem with wanting to eat up my homemade cookies asap! By the way, has anyone seen that new Brownie pan that they're advertising on TV?? I really like the looks of it; sort of like an ice tray, but larger of course. I love the way they decorated the tops of the brownies all differently. But, I think it would be a waste of $$ for me as I just enjoy my brownies plain, no need for sprinkles or candy on top.
Blaster, it's a very nice idea. But I don't practice professional sterilization in my own kitchen (I mean, it's clean... but not sterilized). I can't 100% guarantee that there has been no contact with peanuts/wheat/soy. I'd hate to donate something and someone have an allergic reaction.
I bring some of my cookies down to my grandparents & share with others. I love to bake as well. I really like to make pies & cookies.
I do this! It still tastes really yummy and more moist than originally. If you make cupcakes they are usually 1 point (with out frosting). :thumb:
I've never tried those! I have used diet cherry dr pepper for a white cake that turned out pretty good. I want to try other varieties too- orange soda or big red.
