Does anyone else see a lot of postings this week in their area? I just applied for 4 positions this week. I even applied for addition positions that I might not be totally qualified for but I figured why not?

Did all the districts wait until school was out? I hope I get some interviews out of this!

Alright!! District offices here were closed this week; however, a neighboring district opened up 4-5 more positions.

I just hope I get interviews! I even applied to 2 districts where bullet proof vests might be in the dress code (ok that might be a bit of an exaggeration but they aren't in great areas). I'm hoping they are desperate enough to call me LOL

Contracts usually expire July 1 (at least in my area) and anyone who is giving 60-days notice of not returning does that this week. That could account for the increase in postings.

I've seen lots of postings taken down this week, and just a few added, so right now its going in a different direction here. Maybe it will be different in mid July.

Our district went from dire predictions a couple of months ago of hundreds of lay offs to posting 120 openings this week.

My sister is a assistant superintendent in Texas, she says Monday lots of postings will pop up. So, hopefully this is the week. I just looked again, and I do see quite a few new postings. One of those postings lead to my interview today.

Beginning and ending of the year budgets have been finalized for some areas. I am interviewing for a position with Head Start, and have seen more postings due to July 1 being the beginning of a new year.

    Ok try this:

    http://www.nysais.org/

On the top you can click on DIRECTORY OF SCHOOLS then pick an area like Manhattan, Bronx, etc.

    Hope this helps!

Have many more openings come up for y'all? I have only seen a couple pop up here where I am... :-( Mainly, the postings I've seen are for admin or special ed. Definitely things I'm NOT qualified for. Keeping my fingers crossed for things to come up in which I'll get an interview!

Everything I'm seeing posted are things I am not qualified for, mainly special ed. Even though I work in sp ed right now as an aide, I can't get qualified for it for at least a year because I have to do an internship.

No new postings here. I know the teachers around here have to turn in their resignations this week if they aren't returning--so maybe things will start popping later this week.

Can we assume you've sent a resume and cover letter to every school on this list, hiring freeze or no?? (If they lift the freeze, you'll want them to have your info)

School let out in June. I've "heard" that the school has to tell the teachers whether or not they are renewing their contracts 30 days b/f school lets out but the teachers don't have to turn in their resignations untill 45 days b/f school starts. School starts here Aug. 24th 25th, depending on the district.

It's 41 days till August 24. So if what you heard is right, the postings should start appearing.
