For the first time in my teaching career I will not have any work to do this weekend! I have settled into a schedule that allows me to get all my work graded (100 vocab projects, 100 reading logs, and 100 essays a week) and my next week's lesson plans done during my planning time and weekday evenings in front of the TV.

This is my fourth year of teaching, and this is the first time this has happened!

    Holla!

    Congrats, that is HUGE!
I am in the same boat as you....this is my 3rd year and I am finally starting to get ahold of my schedule and paperwork....so far I have only worked one weekend this school year. It is the best!! Even though I am still working 10 hour days during the week, I have two days of REST!!
    Yay for us!

I am very, very, very JEALOUS!!!
I always seem to find some reason to work on the weekend. There is just not enough time!

I am jealous as well! I had that feeling last weekend, and it lasted all of 22 hours!

I am a first year teacher (and HALF time) and I go in to school early, leave late, and do stuff on the weekends just to keep my head above water. It's working though and I love it! I can't wait to be in your shoes though!!!

I always wondered about that mythical teacher who went home and DIDN"T have to do any work at home. Who IS she? How does she DO it?

Are you going to do anything special for your Columbus Day Weekend?

My dream... someday, I am working full time...and this weekend comes along. Finding myself free (without school work) but WITH the available cash - I travel north to Door County, Wisconsin (or with LOTS of money to burn - to New England).. to enjoy a driving vacation of seeing the autumn color change.

    I can DREAM, can't I?

I did it this weekend! I did it! I did my lesson plans for the week, caught up on checking and returning work, and left everything behind! (Well, I did bring home some Daily 5 stuff to prepare for a staff presentation later this week, but no work directly related to my class.)

The thing is, there is ALWAYS more you can do. So I left it all at school and hopefully can leave it behind mentally, too.

I have a yucky cold so I'm hoping to rest, spend lots of fun time with my son, and get some housework done. We don't have a long weekend - have to work Columbus Day.

I love those weekends when that happens! It doesn't happen every weekend, but I do try.
