I'll be playing the bomb game with kids, and I need some fresh ideas.

The bomb is a little black thing that makes an explosion sound in your hands at random times. So, it's great to pass it around the circle and have kids list things. We play it in a way that if a kid cannot say anything, he gets out and the circle gets smaller and smaller.

Here is what we did before, the kids are anywhere from 7 to 11 y.o:

    GIRLS NAMES
    BOYS NAMES
    THINGS IN OUTER SPACE
    FARM ANIMALS
    ANIMALS KEPT AS PETS
    THINGS KEPT IN REFRIGERATOR
    ARTICLES OF CLOTHING
    THINGS FOUND AT THE BEACH
    THINGS FOUND IN THE CLASSROOM
    PARTS OF THE BODY
    THINGS FOUND IN THE OCEAN

    any ideas are appreciated,
    Anna

I definitely wouldn't use the toy bomb. That would definitely not be allowed at my school.

Which is why I suggested the Hot Potato...allowed or not, the bomb is a bit disturbing and provocative, IMO. :2cents:

Thank you for suggestions! It's good to know about the inappropriateness if a bomb in school. I actually did it at home with a bunch of kids (I do game time periodically), however, I was thinking about doing it in school sometimes.

Well, the idea of a game sounds good (and I've seen it in action), however, the implementation is not easy. For example, when I tried Names of restaurants, kids start making up names Chinese Place, Indiean place, and tell me, yes, that is the restaurant, I have no way of "checking"

When we tried colors, anything green, anything yellow, kids start pointing to things in the room, or just making up things like yellow shirt, yellow game (instead of things that are naturally yellow)

Next time I'll try the same thing in "Sparkle" fashion. I think the idea of a ticking bomb in their hands make a lot of them kind of loose their heads
