I saw this ad on a website:

    Become a Teacher Online
Teachers are in Demand, Become One! Find Schools with Teaching Programs

If we're in demand, why don't I have a job yet?

I agree; the ads are super annoying.

I dislike it that ACPs are luring job-seekers in with the line. It also doesn't help that my family doesn't realize the ads are from programs attempting to make money and not from the government. I typically hear, "I saw a billboard saying teachers are desperately needed! Have you applied at the elementary school down the street?!"

I've been going through this for three years now. I eventually explained to my family that the "jobs" aren't really open and that there really isn't a shortage when they are laying of teachers. I hope this year gets better, but I doubt it.

I also don't like the articles from Yahoo (and other sources) that list the most in-demand careers. They always have teaching on the list. It's not that easy for teachers to find jobs right now!

If you want to move to maryland, you should have no trouble getting a job - they seem to be hiring like crazy right now

I have been looking for two years and NOTHING!!! I hate having to explain that I have applied at all of the districts and still haven't found anything!
