http://www.teachersnotebook.com is similar as well We actually have a TPT top seller floating around on the boards!
TPT does little but support the terribly corrupt copyright system currently in place in this country. Sites like Betterlesson.org or tes.co.uk are much more learning and rights friendly.
I also like sharemylesson.org. However, I am a seller and buyer (mostly) on TPT AND Teacher's Notebook, although not near the caliber of IHeartRecess!
Hello, I'm pwhatley, and I'm a former VistaPrint addict. Unfortunately, VistaPrint was just a gateway drug for me, because I've moved on to harder stuff - Teacherspayteachers.com!
I think this website has improved greatly. I have found some high quality items for very good prices on this site. These materials have helped me a lot in the classroom. I really like how you can preview the item first to see if it is really what you want. I have also found some very good free items, but not as many as the items I have paid for. Every teacher should really check out this site. It is truly awesome!
Speaking of great websites, and the fact that I've lately been visiting individual school websites in trying to find certain information (contacting principals), it is interesting to me how subpar a lot of school web sites are. Some look like they were a student's HTML coding school project years ago... and were never updated. Especially when you consider that computer lab time is S.O.P. in any school I've been to... You would think that schools would look to make their own websites more comprehensive (e.g. a place where students can safely learn too?). But at least have good information for parents. I might be able to understand it in more rural or lower-income areas (where people may not be on technology so to speak), but really... it is extremely under-developed aspect IMO.
In the sense that Fair Use doesn't matter to sites like TpT. When they are given any take-down notice they side with the copyright holder no matter what. They do not take Fair Use into consideration at all. The copyright system is corrupt because it protects whoever is willing to pay for lawyers and is used to bully anyone who isn't. I don't usually have a problem with that (Youtube has a similar policy though it does things to avoid the takedowns) but I do have a problem when the site owners says things supporting Fair Use but then does things that are completely against it. When she decided to sell her own vacation photos and tried to put it out there as "helping the teaching community" I was completely done with her site.
It's cool and cute! I love it! I've been using beestar. It includes worksheets of all subjects for g1 to g10. I also recommend it! Lisa
I just discovered TPT 2 weeks ago and have been using it ever since, but I will defiently check out the othet sites that was mentioned
